The main reason people leave xBox or PlayStation to PC is the addons. This information has come from losing many officers, wonderful guildies, or Twitch viewers that I still play with on PC. The addons that seem to have the largest effect on players leaving are the quality-of-life addons that show where items are located.

Adding something like an inventory manager that tells you where all of your gear is seems extremely resource intensive. With this knowledge, my request for the development team is this: give us the ability to see where Skyshards and Mage's Guild Lorebooks are located on the map prior to discovery. We don't need a mini map, but the ability to even move our cursor over to the location to see where to find these necessary items would save so much time in creating more characters and make the grind less painful. This change would keep people from leaving the platform that so many of us love just to have a little bit of an easier time leveling up new characters. The implementation could be similar to what exists with the current map system where you can determine if you want to see discovered Skyshards on the map. The only difference is adding in undiscovered Skyshards as well as Lorebooks.

If this isn't a possibility, could we get a reason why? It's understandable that PC has addons that can't be implemented on console (i.e the absurd amount of combat addons telling you what the boss is thinking about in 30 minutes), but it is unreasonable that console players need to keep a charged phone or computer nearby to save an extremely large amount of time and hassle.

Thank you for your time,
POG

As an PC player using mods like inventory insight I say this is an good idea. Now inventory insight is not that challenging.
20 characters * 215 slots and say 250 bytes storing item info is an megabyte 2 with bank and storage chests.
Yes you need to update the local database but it works well for me.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

So resource intensive that an unpaid add-on developer managed it. If an unpaid add-on developer can make it I'm pretty sure that ZOS could manage it if they wanted.

I know the horizontal is already in the game. I'm not sure about the vertical. For mapping keys I personally use the main menu for PlayStation. I think xBox has the same ability though.

You make a pretty valid point. I also look at how long it took to update the servers though

The mini map is my favorite add-on for sure. It makes it so much easier to not get lost in delves and Cradle of Shadows!

Consoles can't be upgraded or overclocked easy, and without issues.PCs can handle addons, cause you can add more RAM,better GPU/CPU,bigger SSD,etc. If implemented serverside,it would bog down servers with calculations and eat up storage space that they trying to save on their end. Also,if they did it on consoleside, there could be issues with console makers, and eventually need to make a store for addons, and takes time doing checks on all addons to make sure they work,or are ok.Console conpanies are more strict on things being added to the games, expcially if any need to connect to 3rd party site.

This right here said it all. I've played on both. Console from day 1, a couple years on pc, and came back to console purely for friends. Because it is absurdly better on PC, but playing with friends trumps all. Well said by the OP all around. The equivalent of map location add on and lazy writ crafter and people would be so happy. Trader stuff would be the 3rd, but I know that's not doable on console I'm sure.

Yeah I use the horizontal offset but would love to also get the vertical option to move the reticle higher.

Re the key mapping I’d like to do things like map synergy to r3 instead of using 2 buttons as I use it more than i do sneak

I'm not trying to get add-ons on console because of the issues you brought up here, but I am hoping Zos will add in the ability to see Skyshard and Lorebook locations from the base game. The locations are already located in the servers because you can see the discovered Skyshards, so why not make it to where we can see them before we discover them? With this, there would not be any third parties necessary :)

Addons but also lower player counts. Crossplay with Console and PC would revitalize the ESO community not just in populating empty Cyrodiil campaigns but with the guilds, trading economy, Trials, and more.

The economy on pc is an absolute dumpster fire. They have node drop location map add ons that can be imbedded like a mini map. Combat add-ons give pc players an unfair advantage in trials and score pushing. Full stop. Like teams have literally built programs specifically for their raid groups on pc and dont release them to the public. You never have to depend on call-outs. You get timers on screen as to when mechs are going to happen. Pc is an entirely different game. The outcome would be the opposite, console communities would just crash because they cant be competitive. Cross play between xbox and ps though? That i can get behind 1000%.

Console has always needed love and attention from zos, and has gotten almost none. Its always been this way, and thats why so many of us came here and left all our stuff behind. So much time and money gone, and zos loves that. They love when you restart and spend more money.

I'd be up for cross play on anything except the trade market. The difference between cost and available materials between PCNA and PSNA is absurd and would case issues on all accounts. Side effects would be patches would have to be pushed back to be released at the same time though.

I'm on PC but there are some addons that I could never live without, it seems to me that the issue is with Microsoft and Sony. ZOS made the game as it is, every struggle you have on Xbox or PlayStation it's supposed to be there and we are just "cheating" in a good way on PC.

So basically, the game is working as intended and unless they allow addons on console which won't happen because console, they probably won't introduce any of the things you ask for. It's sad and I wish they did something about it, but that's the reason many people switch to PC, they don't see a future on the console version.

I mean some of the combat cues are ridiculous and can put people with visual or hearing disabilities into positions that are difficult or impossible to defend against if the combat cues didn't exist. this is a scenario where making changes that benefit some people can benefit everyone.

Another one that should be implemented is a verbal notification that you are in combat. Even on PC, not all add-ons have this feature, but combat music plus very faint red glow pulsing on the corners of the screen lets you know you have entered combat otherwise on both PC and Console. Completely deaf users (without implants) or users with visual impairment won't know that they, or their group are in combat immediately, and may lose out on a few seconds of combat. In things like PVP, this can lead to unnecessary disadvantages due to poor game design. Visual text on the screen that says "Entered Combat" and "Left Combat" lets all users know that they are in combat without relying on indicators that are poorly telegraphed to some users.

Bethesda eventually added mods on consoles for both Skyrim and Fallout 4. Seems like they should be able to do the same with ESO. And, just to be clear, I don't want to hear about hardware limitations on consoles, or resource limitations on servers, or software limitations on the client. As a full-stack programmer of 30 years: mods on consoles is doable. As I tell managers, it's software. We can DO anything; it's only a question of time. (And time is money, so that's included.) So this is only a matter of will from ESO, and I'm guessing the player counts on the platforms makes them think that nothing needs to be changed.

The goal that I'm trying to accomplish with this post is to make it a little easier for console. I'm not looking to allow people to create add-ons, simply have ZOS make markers like Skyshards and Lorebooks accessible for console players on the map. They already created the feature to see "discovered" Skyshards which means it doesn't seem super farfetched to be able to see the not discovered ones as well.

You raise a valid point. People swap when they don't see a future on console. Part of the issue is not everyone can afford a PC. This means people just quit the game simply because the grind is too much.

Thank you for the well-thought response :)
