Alliance Lock needs to be standard across all Camps

Time to teach everyone what loyalty means. Want to claim this game's PvP is competitive? Being able to switch sides willy nilly defeats the purpose and destroys the balance.

No one sane thinks the PvP in this game is anything but a joke as competitive PvP, faction lock makes no meaningful difference to that, because even with faction lock you are still playing a "PvP" game that:

1- Has different numbers of players on each team.

2 - Has tryhards vs casuals, new players vs players with thousands of hours, 60 year olds vs 16 year olds, etc.

3 - Has no MMR mechanism to balance out the tryhards / veterans and casuals / new players evenly across teams, in fact it is perfectly possible to stack one team, faction locks do not prevent that.

4 - A fair number of people have two or more accounts, faction lock is useless against this.

Cyrodil is literally the opposite to what is required for competitive PvP, which is why things like the score, "winning", "fights", etc, have always been meaningless and why it (and that type of PvP in general) is so unsuccessful.

Hence no one with any real interest in skilled, competitive or even vaguely decent PvP (A.K.A an actual PvP'er) is playing Cyrodil, beyond something to occasionally muck about in. It's "PvP" for roleplayers, but then I guess this a RPG...

I don't agree with an overall lock like Greyhost but we do need cooldowns on how long before you can switch. Like no switching for 24 hours. There are two many people switching very frequently and disrupting the flow. Bandwagoneers per day.

    i dislike the faction locks

i have friends who play on all 3 factions, and i cant always play with them on grey host because of which faction they entered with so 90% of the time im playing in blackreach unless im solo

i care little about the scores and such, but i do care when some dumb mechanic is preventing me from playing with a friend

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

I like your idea as a compromise system at least.

I love faction locks and always play DC on the main locked campaign, but I don't see any problem with having unlocked campaigns for those that don't like them.

Yes, faction lock should be on every campaign. The duration of the lock is debatable.

No. This honestly ruins it for me. I have friends i play with in both factions. I would basically have to choose between my friend groups to play in cyro 😞

If they did implement locks in all campaigns (which they won't do, I'm sure), just do what all cross-faction guilds do. Have toons in each alliance and every campaign decide amongst yourselves which alliance you'll play that month. Or have 3 accounts with 1 for each alliance. It's really not that hard to get around faction locks if you really want to.

Let me discribe it a bit differently. It is just that an unlocked campaign will cause a lot of traffic, when certain groups or guilds are playing and also do cross alliance runs the oppertunistic way. For those who like to play for their alliance or play solo it is then othen experienced as if their effort is all for nothing, if the population bars are not trustworthy. So yes for those players please a lock but maybe not as stringent as one month but instead 12hrs or one day. Playing with friends is then still possible just communicate before the run starts. But abruptly changing alliances during lets say the evening is then not possible any longer.

Yeah just have 3 accounts. Ok. Listen man. Not all my friend groups are the same, not all my guilds share people (im not sure why this would even be a thought process). Not everyone has a toon for each Alliance and the idea that everyone has to remake exactly their build on multiple toons just to play together is crazy and also wayy to expensive and time consuming for a lot of people. Being locked into a single toon or playstyle for a whole campaign is just an awful idea.

They need to end the Alliance War and give us an updated PvP map so that they can actually balance numbers.

It’s pointless having these campaigns when there are hours throughout the day where one Alliance will have triple the players logged on and have most of the map capped running up the score.

If you really think faction lock is that important, there's a campaign for that. So either you're playing on Gray Host, and complaining about something that doesn't affect you, or you're choosing to play a campaign without faction lock and complaining about the result of your own choice.

I play DC on most characters, with one AD and one EP character remaining. If it weren't for the pvp achievements zos recently introduced, those two would have changed faction by now as well. So I do appreciate faction loyalty, but I also have a lot of fun whenever I'm fighting against the people I usually fight with.

Don't try to bully the entire playerbase into your point of view. Especially not when the game already gives you the option to play in a way that supports your point of view.

As this forum is meant for spreading ideas there is also a place for your oppinion. Nevertheless I do not think that our feedback will have any impact on what ZOS puts as a priority.

But anyhow we can at least writte something as a feedback to discover that we are just a small wheel of the whole machine and hope for the best solution for the majority. If ZOS would react on every post then the machine whould have only one wheel.

Faction locks in any campaign are ridiculous. I play with friends from all 3 alliances on toons from all 3 alliances. Being blocked from playing in the only campaign with any real action just because I wanna play with friend B today instead of friend A is stupid.

I'd wager the majority of players in Cyrodiil don't actually even care about the alliance war score - they're just looking for PvP in a game with a dying PvP population. Faction lock just removes a social aspect to a game that revolves around playing with friends.

Faction locking probably would just kill the other campaigns. It's a needless change at the end of the day.

Even if every campaign became a complete copy of the grey host rule-set that would hardly improve any of those campaigns at all except ruling out people's ability to play with friends or swap factions.

However: Would the populations even out more or see a population density as big as Gray host? No, because why would people leave gray host just to play another gray host and lose their campaign rank unless they're the type of player to want to be Emperor every single day.

Even given opportunity, people will just stay in gray host all the time. You have more reliable zergs as a zergling player (because it's the most populated), you have more people to pvp against (if you don't care for score and only fighting players), more chance to play with like-minded guilds (due to population density).

I personally don't like faction lock but I don't think it will have any tangible change on any other servers in the first place. Why would anyone leave their comfortability in GH to play Ravenwatch or Icereach(assuming they have the same ruleset as GH), which has less people? The only real reason I can see is just to farm emperor. Just seems like you're taking away options from players, which is never a good thing.

The faction lock needs to be done away with on all campaigns or at the very least remove the 100,000 AP or gold penalty you have to pay to abandon the campaign on every character currently locked to Gray Host before you can even switch to a character on another Alliance.

My buddy played when faction lock didnt exist. He said atleast who won swapped around. Yeah ppl switch to be on the winning side a lot but honestly i couldnt care less even though i spend a fair bit of time in cyrodiil. Im just there to kill things. Instead its the same alliance gated constantly with the other not far behind. There is an overwhelming amount of players in one alliance so they are pretty much guaranteed a full 3 bars unless its an event. Im over it.

Who doesn't know they're mercenaries in GH? Selling of titles for real money?
That makes ppl have 3 toons each alliance.
