Aetheric Cipher and Aetherial Dust availability

These items only drop in zones that belong to the base game. That means basically half the places in the game don't drop these. More specifically, they don't drop in the half of the game players tend to spend significantly more time in. Is the possibility of alternative material drops, such as Nirncrux in Craglorn, Casserite Sand in Wrothgar or Rogue Soot in Hew's Bane, really still a reasonable justification to not allow these items to drop in those zones as well? Most DLC zones that came after those don't even drop raw style materials from crafting nodes anymore and even if they did, the drop chance of Aetherial Dust is so low that it shouldn't even matter that something else also drops from those nodes. The drop rates of items like Aetherial Dust or Mourning Dew is another question entirely (same for the Aetheric Cipher and Chef Arquitius's Lost Thesis) but suffice it to say that they are way too low to actually properly serve their purpose (especially with the PvP ones you're probably going to hit rank 50 long before you get everything you need for the White-Gold War Torte). Please, ZOS. Reconsider your approach to these items.

The whole point of these items is to counter the "pay-to-win" accusations that come from XP booster scrolls. So the items that make "equivalent" drinks must be available in-game, and for all players. In particular they cannot be restricted to DLC.

Of course that doesn't mean that they can't be found in DLC zones too, but ZoS want to force people back into the base game zones because they are so underpopulated.

This has been done in several ways: the drops you mention; surveys being randomly assigned instead of applying to the zone where you had in writs; fighter guild dailies...

As for the drop rates, well they want to get you hooked on XP boosters, but they don't want to make it easy for you to get them in-game. Eventually (so they hope) you will go and buy some crown crates and test the RNG on them instead of impossible drop rates on Aetherial Dust.

one big flaw with that strategy. I get a significantly higher amount of high level XP boosters per month, just by logging in every day. they come up so much in the log in rewards that it's ridiculous how rare the ones earned through gameplay are.

they should also really find something better to pull people into base game zones. it's too rare to attract any players other than professional resource farmers.

you get enough to use on like... a single character? but if you have multiple chars the login rewards are never enough for anything they give except the permanent cosmetics of course.

more characters doesn't mean I get more boosters through playing. I can only play one character at a time and there's only 24 hours in a day. So with the exception of 50% boosters, I still get more higher tier boosters from the log in rewards then I do from playing the game. so if they are keeping those drop rates low to convince you to buy stuff from the crown store, but they still give a small amount away for free, it doesn't make sense for it to be any lower than that free amount drop rate.

But that's part of the "pay-to-win" argument they are trying to counter - you get scrolls from daily rewards because you pay for ESO+.

what do you mean? I don't have eso+ but I still get log in rewards.

Daily rewards have nothing to do with ESO+.

Except you can craft the 50% and even 100% potions pretty easy.
Yes 50% require perfect roe and 100% require crafting writs vouchers but if you power leveled using crafting writs you should have plenty of these and it reduces perfect roe use to 1/4 who explains why the price difference is so small.
150% is just 50% more than 100%, has only used the 150% scrolls power leveling with writs.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

that's why I meant the high level bonus. the 150% scroll is also more common in the daily rewards than the 100% scroll for some reason.

There's no point to Dust or Ciphers, coming from someone who's found both.

All they do is boost your XP the same way free scrolls do. I can craft all 3 Ambrosias and I have never needed to.

Also at a certain quantity of CP's, which is not that hard to obtain, you don't really need more and leveling further than that is meaningless.

The only people I've had as customers for Mythic Aetherial Ambrosia are players that just wanted CP3600.

exactly, they are way too rare to fulfill their function. after a certain point, there should also be additional reward for level ups (like after CP1800 or Alliance Rank 50) like extra currency, so that continuing to gather points fast is useful.

yep, im pretty sure i dont need 300+ xp scrolls on 1 character lol

i usually use some of those leftover 150% ones to powerlevel companions because i have no other real use of them lol

i used to craft the normal psijic ambrosias, but that was way back in the day back when they first released (before xp scrolls even existed)

once we started getting xp scrolls, especially as login rewards, there was never a point to use those
