Change skill resource cost

With the release of the Arcanist and the way they handled the class, it has be wondering if Zos should update the way skills cost. Instead of having a stamina/Magicka morph, wouldn't it be more prudent to have the cost be based off of the Highest max resource and it morph accordingly? Sort of how the Destruction skill lines morph depending on what staff is equipped and how some of the Arcanist resource cost change depending on which resource is higher.

I just keep thinking on how it would open up new build ideas. I mean a Dual Wield fire DK, a Two Handed Lightning Sorcerer or even a Arcane Archer.

Just food for thought

No it didn't. When the game first came out, all class skills used Magicka and all weapon skills used stamina. Morphs didn't change anything.
ZOS then changed it so there would be stamina morphs of some class skills, but still very few.
Eventually they got to what we have now, with many stamina morphs of class skills.

That would be hell on resource sustain. Most players like a mix of main resource and off resource skills so their rotation does not suck them dry of the main resource. If you could not control which resource is used, it would be a real hassle.

I can't say yes or no. One one hand, if all skills scaled to your highest resource, it would make more diverse builds possible. On the other hand, maintaining sustain on certain classes would become nearly impossible. I wouldn't mind a few skills, or some morphs, getting this treatment, but definitely wouldn't want it for all skills.

Well not every skill, sorta like the Arcanist doesn't have it for every skill. They do however have one skill that is based of the lowest resource. So there are workarounds

These all are already viable things, thanks to hybridisation. Both magicka and stamina dds gets equal benefits from their weapon and armor weights (offensive stat wise). Thus it is common to see magicka dragonknights use dual wielded daggers as their weapon of choice in highest forms of play in PVE for example.
