Is there a way to consistantly use different UI addons for different characters?

Heyoo!

So recently I thought about the idea of using different UI addons to change the overall 'theme' of the UI for different characters, but it seems it has trouble using the correct addon if multiple are installed active or not. Like, I have DarkUI and PadUI installed, yet every single time I log onto my main character, of which I want DarkUI and have it enabled and PadUI disabled, the game defaults to PadUI every single time regardless, and it's only stopped after removing PadUI. Is there a way I can keep all these addons installed (DarkUI, PadUI, Oblivion Style UI, Skyrim Style, whatever others there might be), and have them reliable switch between them/use the correct one I have set for that character?

I was going to say I know you can enable other addons on a per-character basis but I haven't tried it with UI addons, but it sounds like you're already aware of that option. (I use it to reduce the number of addons running at once, for example I have one that adds a keybind to unsummon all pets and I only have that running on my warden and sorcerer because the others don't need it.)

It sounds like maybe PadUI is ignoring that setting, but I don't know how it's set up so I'm not sure if that's something you can change.

like it was noted, you can enable addons per character

if you are already logged in to a character, and then hit escape, go to addons, and if you toggle off/on addons, it will only change them for that particular character

if you are on the character login screen, using the addon menu there changes the addon toggled on/off for all characters

this will work for any addon including UI related ones, since the addon only has an effect when its toggled on, if its off it wont change anything

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

I have different addons for my characters.

Are you the Admin on your PC or playing ad Admin? If not, the addon settings may not be getting saved

You see that should be the case, but I tried it again and it isn't for the UI. I reinstalled PadUI, logged into the character select screen, *disabled* PadUI for every character, logged into my main with DarkUI, logged out and back into a different character which *doesn't have DarkUI enabled anyways* but the UI is DarkUI anyways, enabled PadUI and reloaded, and it stayed as DarkUI. Same with the Oblivion UI. Installed it, loaded into a character with no UI addons on, turned on Oblivion, logged out, into my main who has DarkUI enabled but Oblivion disabled, and yet Oblivion was still loaded, and reloaduing UI didn't change it.

I'm assuming it just caches this sort of data when the game initially loads, and doesn't really like switching then.

Edit: Oh, I think I see what you mean about changing it in the Character select screen. That seems to work, but it's sort of a hassle to scroll through the addon list to find both the one I was using and the one I want to use, but it does work

ive never used those addons, so im not sure if they have multiple addon files that might need to be disabled in order to fully disable it

im not sure there would be any reason why one of the UI addons would "stick" even after its been disabled, if its off, it shouldnt be doing anything (thats how its worked when ive had addons disabled on specific toons, like i dont have killcounter active on toons i dont plan on pvping with), they werent full UI ones but technically speaking all addons are UI modifications)

Yeah, my computer only has the one account/user, which says it's the Admin. Like, every other addon works fine if I switch some on or off, it's only UI changing ones that doen't change on their own

The only other thing I can think of is the setting for account wide is checked for the addon that keeps loading. Although that should not cause an addon you have unchecked to not load.

Also, I had a maddening time with an Anti Ransomware setting in windows where none of my add on setups were saving, or changes to add ons. AR was preventing any changes. We are supposed to be able to white list apps, but I could not make that work. Since I have a good firewall, I just disabled the Anti Ransomware on my machine.

Addons are disabled if you disable them properly :)
You just need to unchecked them at the ingame addon manager, and this will save for the currently logged in char.
Reload Ui and afterwards the disabled ones should be disabled and the Ui should only reflect the changes of your still enabled addons.

If this is not the case these ui addons had overwritten textures and they are cached in the file /live/ShaderCache.cooked

So some Ui addons will not work in combination and some will cache the replaced textures in this file and you are only able to remove the cached textures by logging out, close the game, delete that file. And then login with the Ui addons you want to have enabled and the others disabled.

The Ui addons description at www.esoui.com/Minion should explain that too, at least some do.
