[snip] 2nd the green swirly crap is 100% triggering and so i just stop playing when that starts because repeatedly telling people to not do that to me get complaints of spamming but little else.

This new class with it's lime green effects is gross. please make it go away.

It's completely different from FFXIV's summoning based Arcanist; the only things they have in common are the books that both use.

As for the green swirly crap, that's just a you thing. And it's more of a neon green, not lime.

I do find the slimy green bathtub drain effect off-putting. Especially in towns where there is no reason to spam me with it. I have no interest in the class and haven't bought Necrom. In group content, people should be able to play their characters. After people put up flappy when I run my sorc, so I just get along with it.

So, just like every other class that some players like to spam skills from in town, causing all sorts of annoying distractions?

I think i will never buy necrom or recommend it to anyone. that it's on sale 1 month after release for 35% off sure seems like something telling. hated high isle and necrom. i hope they have something decent next year. summerset and elsweyr seemed reasonably well put together. i mean despite the usual eso errors. where's the creative teams at in zeni?

i'm sure i'm not the only one triggered by the green swirlie nonsense.

I never heard of an arcanist before this then i saw it already existed in ff xiv.

atleast eso has actual voice acting in place. ff xiv couldnt be bothered with that...

I like brightly colored spells. I think spells/ability visuals need some more 3d eye candy effects, slight splashes of other colors, and more sparkles.

The neon green spell visual effects does need better quality colors and animations. I don't get bothered by it.

It was ok levelling it in dungeons and some overland shards, i was nearing the end of grabbing shards when i decided to shelve it for writs. Its pretty weak and i really dont have the motivation to work on making it good unfortunately, so ive put the pon back into storage and doing other things. 😐

It's not. Numerous people, myself included, have made a lot of complaints about the arcanist, because it's so bad it's actually a health issue for some of us.

I don't like the arcanist spells, because they are literally causing me pain and discomfort.

Reminds me a bit of esper from Wildstar. But I admit I was not any good with that class so my memory of it is bit hazy. Except arcanist visuals are scifier than espers (in a scifi game!) and much more distracting. I've been levelling one during 2Xexp and the few skills I actually use work ok I guess for me but this far I do not think I'll be maining any. Feels clunky to build crux and then get cc:d or having to block when channeling and waste it. Maybe I'm too casual.
Edit: I play 3rd person with pretty low monitor brightness and can take the effects without nausea. But I'd still prefer to actually see on who I'm directing the firehose of glowing green ***. For smaller foes, only enemy health bars tell me I hit something.

There is nothing unusual about this sale or its timing. It is directly related to QuakeCon, and comes 2 months after Necrom's release, not 1 month.

Every chapter since Morrowind has been released at roughly the same date each year, give or take a week or so.

QuakeCon has been held at about the sane time each year.

And ZOS and Bethesda have put their games on sale for QuakeCon every year at about this time.

I love the Arcanist class. It's different to the previous classes, blowing in some much needed fresh air.

The first couple o weeks were annoying, though. But ZOS significantly toned down the visuals and it is fine ever since. Actually, this was a rare case of ZOS immediatly reacting to customer feedback.

In terms of power, the Arcanist is the second best to DragonKnight at the moment.
I'd argue that Survivability and Sustain are among the best in game right now.
I also get all of that by using Velothi-Ur, Slimecraw, Deadly Strike and Order's Wrath. No big deal.

ESO never claimed to have invented the Arcanist class. FF14 didn't invent it, either, and neither did WoW. The term itself has been around for centuries, and refers to someone who knows, or claims to know, some kind of special, secret knowledge.

Yeah, that's the meaning that's best known. But the term itself just means someone who has, or professes to have, some kind of secret knowledge. Apparently the secret to making "fine china" was pretty special.

Well for PVP there a good addition to the game. There shield are overpowered will be toned down eventually and we have something nice added to PVP for once again. Make necro's better and PVP will be bit more exciting.

Yeah, I know. I was dropping it for emphasis. There was also a D&D class, Forgotten Realms had the Netherese Arcanists, there's something in Magic the Gathering, and as said, the people who knew porcelain and certainly many more - and historically it just stems from latin arcanum - secret.

It's a bit like claiming ESO stole 'Sorcerer' from D&D.

Flashy effects wouldn't be a problem if there was an option to disable other players' vfx.

And I wish ESO "ripped off" more from FFXIV. Like the chronological main quest, memorable Big Bad boss fights, and separately balanced pvp and pve.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

@Zodiarkslayer There has been no toning down on their visuals. None. The only change to Arcanist visuals is slowing down the spinning of crux and making them go away after a bit instead of staying permanent.

All the bright beams that covers people's screens remain the same.

Fr, I keep seeing people say "they've already toned down the visuals enough!" but I have no idea where that notion is coming from. They haven't touched the visuals besides Crux and that was mainly a gameplay nerf.

I mean seriously, did anyone at ZOS even try going into first person on an Arcanist? The visuals, without hyperbole, block half the screen.

Not at all. There was more.
There were also other effects that were toned down. The light effect from the tentacles for example. And I am peetty sure they also took away some of the glossyness and brightness of the colours.

Also the beams of other players are looking thin and pale now. That definitely changed.

I like the green swirly crap tho.

But I'd still like to see more settings to tone it down for people that don't or get headaches from it.
