Question

In veteran dungeons most players are ok with my dps. In other veteran dungeon groups sometimes someone complains about my dps.. i don't understand why that is.

I play a dual wield templar dps kahjiit that's also part of the fighters guild and I spam all my abilities (both class and weapons), I have the proper stamina build, armor, food buffs, and weapon enchantments too. I also do my best to beat up the dungeon bosses and doing the mechanics. I have mostly stamina and some magic character stats(attribute points) and ability builds.

I've previously ran into similar issues when playing a melee dps feral druid in world of warcraft mythic+ difficulty level 21 dungeons. Most players didn't have a problem with my dps except for a few.

I don't have a problem with the dungeons, mechanics, and character builds. I'm asking a simple question for better knowledge and understanding.

Why is this?

Unless you are doing >= 51% of total damage, someone may be doing more damage than you, which is unacceptable.

This sums up what I think the "problem" is pretty well tbh. If most people don't have a problem with your dps then you're probably fine. Some people will throw a fit the second they feel like they're carrying someone else even if that means they're doing like 65% of the dps.

It's possible those who complain are running an addon that tracks each member's dps and yours is significantly lower. Next time someone does this I would politely ask them for details, as they could be genuinely trying to help you. If you have all of the right gear/food/CP/etc maybe you just need to fine tune your rotation.

It's also possible that most if not all are just sweaty tryhards that like to blame others for their own failures. That'll be up to you to decide.

    How is that unacceptable?

It would be next to impossible for both DPS to be doing exactly 50% of the damage each, so someone will always be doing more damage than someone else. Then we need to factor in that the tank and even the healer will also be doing some damage.

Unless one DPS is doing significantly lower damage than the other there shouldn't be a problem.

Pretty sure their response was somewhat sarcastic.

I don't understand the whole complaining thing.

Players bring what they can bring to a shindig and sometimes this can be impacted by technological issues like connection stability and sometimes really stone-age issues such as fatigue, arthritis, and errant pets / household members can unexpectedly strike in the middle of something tricky.

So, I would have thought that having the versatility to step up and "fill the gap in the line" is a probably not such a bad strategy so far as role optimization goes because life; life is chaos by nature...and gameplay is merely yet another chaotic extension of life itself....

There are people who live to complain about others in this game. I wouldn't worry

Unless the complaints are coming during DLC or Vet Hard Mode fights, vs not coming during base game dungeons, you probably don't have an issue.

If the complaints are based on dungeon difficulty or if your group is missing DPS race mechanics, then you probably have room to improve.

I'll let you decide which is more likely to be true.
