Vestige lost in confusion

The Vestige story -- how they became a "vestige", their struggle to get back their soul and all motive for this specific Tamriel period exist and be told in Elder Scrolls lore -- the most essential story of ESO for all new players -- is now lost in a huge confusion of "do whatever you want".

All of my friends that started this game told me of their utter confusion about what to do and where to go in order to give ESO story some sense.

I still don't understand why it is so difficult to lead new players to the Main Story instead of let them running like chickens completely unaware of ESO interesting beginnings.

A lot of players don't care or just want to run like chickens. But a lot of players do want to understand the "Vestige Era" (all our characters are always one: Vestige) and get a good glimpse of their character history.

It will be nice to at least ASK the new players as soon as they finish to create their character if they want to start ESO from the beginning or if they want to be throw at any new DLC and be free to do what the heck they want.

It's a simple task. Just give new players a chance to decide.

I didn't want to be bothered with the whole vestige thing from the very beginning. I'm a long time believer in ignoring game MQs....

I stopped playing for like two years and could still recite the lines from the first couple of quests on my new Arcanist. I know I can skip those quests, but skill points man

For a short period of time the "Talk to the Messenger" was completely optional after it was no longer the default starter, I hate that its forced into your quest logs once you get to a major town.

I would argue that ignoring the Main Quest to go do literally anything else is the most ancient of Elder Scroll's Traditions. The fact that it's forced into the quest log permanently sucks, to the point that I actually go out of my way to avoid base game zones on new characters, just so I don't have to deal with it.

I'd give anything to be able to drop that quest.
