Hi, I'm curious about the costumes. I love the idea of costumes in any MMORPG, but I can't seem to find a website that shows which ones are in the game, or where to get them. I've seen a few, but I've heard that they can be quest rewards, drop from bosses/dungeons, or even as a reward for doing Dark Anchors.

Does anyone have any screenshots, or a website where I can find some? I'm curious about them.

They're for disguises. It allows you not to aggro certain enemies.

I thought at least some of the costumes were for rewards, not just for a quest.

There is a costume you get as a reward for hitting Veteran Rank 2. Beyond that, I have no idea.

There are no costumes as rewards at the moment. You may have gotten the impression from the description of the Imperial award. But that affects weapons and armors only.

You'll find some costumes during the first quests on the first island, as those are needed for accessing certain areas. If you are not caught, you'll get to keep the costume for later use. It takes one inventory slot for whole costume.

If you lose the costume in a fight, you can go pick another costume from the same baskets you found the first ones.

I don't think we have seen costumes other than in-game disguises so far. We expect social costumes in post-launch content.

Someone in my guild told me about combat-proof costumes (not one-time disguises!) in the game. And you can wear them even in combat. Is it true?!

I got a 'smugglers vest' piece of medium armour as one of the quest rewards on the first Daggerfall island, I dunno if there's anything else like that, I guess it looks a bit different to the regular armours? Haven't seen anything else.

@morrowe - which faction are you in? I will kick myself if there's a basket in Stros M'Kai to get the disguise you need there, far as I know you have to first kill one of that group and hope they drop one... (I'm a bit annoyed as I managed to save one, as I liked the look of it, but I somehow accidentally equipped it earlier today, still, it frees up an inventory slot I suppose).

You can unequip it and I'll just go back into your inventory.

In the Ebonheart Pact here, I received a disguise around level 15, and it's actually better looking than my normal medium armor, so I keep that on.

On another note, it's pretty cool that we can keep these disguises if we want to and wear them over our gear. From other games, I was kinda used to quest disguises getting deleted automatically from the inventory when turning in the quest.

For hitting veteran rank 2 you receive a Golden Saint costume that doesn't disappear. So there are at least some costumes available that don't function like disguises, i.e. disappearing when in combat.

You can fight in them as long as it's not against the faction that the disguise is for. But can't crouch while wearing them either.

Personally, I would like to see costumes for city wear like the random clothing in previous TES games.

You can crouch in disguises outside the quest they are for after you complete them.

That is not correct, Maddjuju. Even if you receive a costume in say EP, you can wear it on your DC toon. I am doing it now on several characters and can provide screenshots if necessary. I have so far been able to keep all physical costumes (not gems that change you and things like that) but actual items that go in the Costume slot. I can bank them, trade them to different characters of ALL factions.

Also, you can sneak in costumes as well. Just not while using it for its accompanying quest or whatnot.

**EDIT** I think I read your post wrong. I see now what you meant in that you can't wear the costume properly if you use it against the mobs it was designed to protect you from. I thought you were saying that they couldn't be used by other factions. My mistake!

I heard that you can earn costumes/disguises for earning veteran levels. Is that true?

The disguises you get while leveling, you should store the best looking ones in your bank. You can use them as costumes in the game on any of your characters.

I actually use some costumes on my lowbie alts cos usually the lowbie gear you get doesn't match each other at all and I don't like running around looking like a bum
Also when you hit 50 or some veteran level (cant remember) you will get an epic costume (purple item) which is pretty cool looking. Actually even on veteran level I have to use a costume on my main cos the armor pieces 'I have currently just don't match each other

What I wish is to have costumes buy-able from a merchant but I'm not holding my breath for that. So at least maybe get them as drops from different content.

yeah ok, but in my mind it's totally not enough getting 3 costumes. I don't wanna run around like every other person that has the same ones >.< This game needs tons more options to customize your gear so everyone don't look the same..

Some costumes you get from achievements aswell, and Laplace they look just like those characters do in game. Its their armor after all lol.
