Some NPC's have lost their voices since patch v9.0.8

Since patch v9.0.8 was installed Scruut and Meln have no voiceover, only text for dialogue. Meln's soul gem memento is similarly affected.

Update: I can confirm that...

quest: The Fateweaver Key - the Ancient Texts in the Ciphers Midden ciphers expungatory do not speak when they are read.

Tem at the Altar of the one who knows is voiceless.

As is Ogle at the entrance to The Underweave public dungeon.

I cross checked a couple of these on the PTS - Meln's soul gem memento is speaking loud and clear, as are the Ancient texts in the Ciphers Expungatory. So, the fault seems to be in the Live installation.

The Intake Maw voice from the "Piteous Envoys" quest is also silent, as is Hezehk while he is casting his ritual.

Yep I noticed this too just now over on PC-EU.
I just finished the quest with Melm and filled out a bugreport of the audio issues ingame. But now reading here that more NPC's are affected I will hold off of questing for now until this is fixed as it completely kills the experience for me.

I've noticed this problem before, particularly on a few NPC guild traders in Windhelm, it's been occurring for a while.

On a lighter note: have Stuga and Sorinne also lost their voices ?

Hotfix hopefully? Kinda sucks doing Necrom main quest for the first time with key VO missing.

Ogle, questgiver of the Underweave, is also missing their voice. I had earlier noticed that Tem was missing voice as well, but it seems to be a wider issue.

Seriously though, I did think I was hearing some weirdness with the combat music today where sometimes it would abruptly cut off immediately after a fight. I wonder if there's a sound issue in the latest patch.

...hopefully by the time I'm able to do quests again (thanks, quest state bug), this is fixed. I really like to listen to the dialogue when I run through it the first time.

I just recognized that yesterday evening on PC/EU there was no more music in the tunnel with the urns under Necrom.

Thank you for letting us know that the dev team is aware of this issue. That said, I think it's entirely unreasonable to delay fixing it until Update 39, which won't be released until August 21. This issue was introduced in an incremental patch and it'll be nearly a month of missing audio, and on the latest content release that's being promoted by Ascent of the Arcanist, too.

There will be some new players who've bought Necrom due to Ascent of the Arcanist coinciding with the game being free on the Epic Games store, and their first impression will be that half the game's audio doesn't work.

Is it unreasonable to request if this can be fixed somewhat sooner? I was having a blast questing with my arcantank together with Sharp, and that patch is weeks away. I rather take a day of maintenance than having to wait so long to get audio back.

I agree that a month is an unreasonable amount of time to wait for such an important hotfix. The music is one thing, but so many missing voices are borderline game-breaking for a lot of people, myself included. Especially when playing quests for the first time.

A 4 week delay in fixing this is very disappointing. This is a game breaker for me as far as Necrom is concerned. It is not just the loss of all that wonderful voice acting, Meln's audio cues to use his Ghost Sight synergy are a vital part of some of the most important boss fights (which are hard enough already).

Let's see: Greymoor story content was broken, High Isle was just bad, now Necrom is broken too.
I think I'm not not interested in this game anymore. Was fun while it was fun.

Anyway, I suppose at least we have a date of the fix, but I also wish it could have been sooner now that I'm actually working on the main quest.

Oh, NOT COOL. I was rushing to finish the Necro achievements so I could buy the Very Expensive Necrom House for the 10% off during Zeal of Zenithar.

The Necrom main quest has been, for me, one of the best quests in the game, and that's greatly enhanced by the great VO acting. I love Melm and Scruut! Is Mora bugged too?

So now my choice is to do these awesome quests, hamstrung (voice cues for fights), and missing some of the best aspects in order to get the house, or wait on the house and pay 130K more?

I'm on console. This bug is being put into place RIGHT NOW. I should have stayed up all night to finish...

Oh... well I've been on a roll questing and just got to Necrom, but I guess I'll have to go do something else for a month so I don't miss out on any dialogue. That's unfortunate.

Hm. I'm on PS/NA, on An Unhealthy Fate (the 5th main quest, if you count the 3 towns as part of the first) and the voices are there.

It's nice that it gets fixed obviously, but it is highly disappointing this isn't going to be a hotfix.

I came back just yesterday for the new content, but having no voice for so much of important voiced story is seriously enough to regret it.

Just wanted to acknowledge that we understand everyone's disappointment about not getting the fix sooner. Some of this is based on the scope of the issue and if the team is confident that the fix will be ready and not pose any risk to other items. Obviously, this does not account for curveballs that are sometimes part of development. All that being said, they are confident in the U39 date to deliver this fix.

Wow... Late to the party, but I have to agree, that it's a bit strange to have such a quality issue lingering for a month in the main quest of your latest showpiece expansion, while marketing almost desperately tries to drum up new players.

Just met Scruut in the Necrom main quest, and googled if there is a known issue or if I should risk restarting the game (and most likely no longer being able to log back in) So I guess I'll play something else until monday?

Now I'm kinda bummed that I actually could log in today and start the Necrom story...

(And yeah, joke's on me, since I'm playing MMOs atm because solo RPGs are like wine and need some time to mature...)

At the moment Meln the Mouthless is Meln the Voiceless, along with Strutt. So that is 2 out of 3 without a voice on the first 3 Necrom main quests. The saying used to say 2 out of 3 ain't bad - but not here.

Hope everything returns to normal with the "Quality of Life" Update 39 on Monday.

On another note when you have Meln the Mouthless and the Augur of the Obscure in your inventory do you end up having a headache ? What a conversation that will be

It looks like it has been fixed. So far I've checked Meln's memento, Tem, Ogle and the heaps of scrapings in the ciphers expungatory and they're all audible.

I haven't encountered Scruut or Meln in person yet.
