Potential fix for ''An error has occurred'', and possibly more errors!

Go to settings. Select Network & Internet. Select Change Your Network settings. Right-click your Ethernet or Wi-Fi and select Properties. Look for the power/energy settings. Make sure to uncheck the box which says that this computer is allowed to turn off your modem/router to save power/energy. Apparantly, after the latest Windows Update, my PC was turning my modem/router off to save power/energy at seemingly random intervals, which resulted in receiving quite a variety of different errors. This won't fix all other issues you might still experience, but for me this error has been fixed.

Good luck! (and hopefully see you soon in Tamriel!)

I can't find these settings on Windows 11. Also, how can a PC turn off an external modem/router? That's not possible. And what makes you think this is a fix? Just curious.

You'll have to excuse me for the fact that English is my second language, but if you would be so kind as to haul the second sentence through Google translate, you'll find that it is entirely possible for your PC to turn your internet adapter off to save energy. I know, crazy!

How is this option even an option? I mean, there are so many things you can shut off to save power, but no! Let's shut off your internet adapter. And not tell you about it.

Why do I think it's a potential fix? Well, because when I unticked this box, I stopped receiving a variety of errors like ''Lost lobby connection'' and the ''An error has occurred'' seems to occur a lot less now.

Oh, and would somebody care to explain to me why my Print Screen key doesn't seem to work when attempting to make screenshots of Windows-related stuff like this? That would be great, thanks!

Using a VPN seems to have the desired effect. No more ''An error has occurred'' for two hours and fourteen minutes.

    Boo errors! Boo!

No worries. You speak great English. Internet adapter, yes, that can be turned off. I took it as modem/router. Interesting that a VPN has saved your problem. I might give that a try.

This is why I turn off Windows Updates.
