Need some assistance with an Arcanist Oakensoul build

Hello Friends, I have been playing the Arcanist (Dunmer Stamina) and it is a lot of fun. I was looking around for builds (because I am bad at making my own) and found this build video by SkinnyCheeks- https://youtube.com/watch?v=ZHLgxtAK3og&t=1857s&ab_channel=SkinnyCheeks

Now his 1-bar build says it can do 100k, obviously I was not expecting to hit that right away on the dummy. However I was pretty shocked when I only got 64k. So I must be doing something wrong here but I am unsure as to what. I use the main two champion passives he mentioned along with Wrathful Strikes and Fighting Finesse. I do light attack in between skills. I have the Nirnhoned dagger in my offhand by the way.

My gear is purple because it is a bit expensive to make all my gear gold (if that is a factor at all). Same goes for my jewelry which is blue except for Oakensoul.

I know some may wonder "why run a one bar build?", well personally I dislike bar swapping all the time and just love having to deal with one bar.

So yeah if any could give me some advice on what I could be doing wrong that would be great. I was hoping to get at least 80k.

The number one question is... are you on the correct dummy? The iron atronach trial dummy?

That should work fine. Hmm.. swap the nirnhoned dagger to your main hand, if I recall correctly you'll see a boost from doing that? Also make sure you have all your passives, attributes, mundus, food, enchants, traits, etc... I often forget those. I don't think the jewelry/armor color would be the problem.

Somewhere I read that having the Nirnhoned dagger in offhand is good because of the passive for off hand. But maybe that isn't so anymore? My Mundus is the thief, food is Atraeum Takeaway Broth, Enchants are all he has listed for the 1-bar build.

Like I said its odd because I pretty much have everything built the same way. Maybe its a skill issue.

As you mentioned purple gear, have you golded out your weapons? You're losing a chunk of dmg by using purple ones.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

I thought that too for a bit but I had a noticeable increase in dps by swapping nirnhoned to main hand. The reasoning I’ve heard is your main hand hits more often than your off hand? I don’t know if that’s the real reason or not.

Skill will have a massive effect on parse but I feel like the drop from 100k to 64k is a lot to be only a skill issue, especially for a 1-bar build.

Never put a nirnhoned weapon in your offhand, as it's the only trait affecting the item instead of the char.

Your off-hand adds only around 20% of it's base-dmg to your attacks, which makes nirnhoned practically useless there.

Sorry when I said gear I meant weapons as well. All is still purple, though since I have gold I may buy some Tempering Alloy for my weapons. As well as put my Nirnhoned dagger back on main hand.

The 100k mark is the ceiling. Not the front door.

Skinny Cheeks makes videos for endgamers, high midtier players, if you are generous.
His entire channel has the preface of adressing players with knowledge, skill and the ressources to implement his builds. That includes all golden gear...
Noone should be surprised, that if one deviates from the instructions, one gets different results.

Now, to be more productive: On the website, there are 8 S tier sets, that skinny recommends. By contrast, he also took a "simple loadout" as the Oakensoul example. Which sets are you using?
I mean, he has "Remember to treat this as a base to work from" standing on the top of each of his build pages. That should tell you how to use his builds.

Barbed trap and blade cloak are the flex spots of the 1bar loadout. What abilities did you use there?

If anyone here says: OH! But, PVP! I swear I'll ...

Thank you for the valuable input and respectfully recommend to discuss that aspect of ESO on the PVP forum.

Like Braffin said: golding out your weapons is not really optional (at max level of course).

Right I understand that, as I said I wasn't expecting to get 100k. But definitely not 64k. I got 78k on my Magica Sorc Pet Oakensoul build.

I am using the Deadly Strike and Pillar of Nirn setup with Slimecraw. And I am using Deadly Cloak and Barbed Trapped because I am not sure what would be good/ better options. I was thinking about using Imperfect Ring/Fulminating morph in place of one of them.

I did change Fighting Finesse with Untamed Aggression and I put damage enchants on my two pillar jewelry, bringing my Spell and physical damage to 5600s while still having 49% crit. I also got my daggers to gold. I will test this all out later on the dummy and see how that does and then let you all know.

So I did another dummy test and with Deadly Cloak I got 70,291 DPS, 4m 59s. With Fulminating Rune it was 70,194 and same time. So not a huge difference switching the skills. I did forget that I am missing my last two passives in light armor tree so its possible that could have some effect here, even though I am just wearing one light piece. I am light attacking between every skill cast.
