Mirri Elendis, why does she run off myself in combat?

Her level is maxed out, she has a decent gear, but she is dumb. Why devs made her acting this stupid?
It happens mostly when we fight bosses and all sort of overland group content (like Harrowstorms).

As a stamplar I use Extended Ritual to fight in it's circle and would expect my companion to stay close to benefit from this healing and also heal me in return.
But she doesn't care and runs away, then usually dies because she's overwhealmed.
I won't rush after her to help her, because she is the one who should helping me.
Also when she moves off, she usually do it in a straight line, does not kite asides.

What's a benefit to have dumb companions. Looks lke I need to waste a slot to have Inner Fire to taunt the mobs and save her .
I never liked companions, but wanted to check on them. Now I see their design has flaws that crave for major alterations.




Here she died when we were soloing Volenfell and was stupid enough to stand in the end of steam corridor, which end up very badly for her.

Give her melee weapons or an ice staff. They are programmed to stay at range with other weapons.
