New World has 3 pvp factions and one needs to bit pick one after levelling a bit to continue main questline. (It did not work wery well because in practice only the sweatiest minority of players got do the territory control wars and set and collect taxes from others at tiny servers with 'endgame' mainly being expensive rng on rng gear grind. Bots and some players did not bother joining any faction. Dunno if it has improved in last year+...)

None of this has any bearing on ESO. Most importantly is that New World is an unmitigated failure due to a poor overall design, boring story, heavy cheating in a PvP game, and inability to quickly react to changing server populations as players exited the game which left many servers dead.

No, what should be part of the base game is Appearance Change. You know, like every other game out there.

Not every game has an appearance change as part of the base game.

Every MMO that I've played has. It's either completely free or costs a small amount of in-game currency.

ESO so far is the only one that charges you real life money.
