Tank asking Damage question

Bitter_Apple21
Hello, I typically tank but when doing events, I change up gear etc to give a bit more DPS to make overland interactions go a bit faster. I am looking at what skills to use, and I am noticing something on a few. So using one - Flurry - I am seeing that the "ability" (at least based on what is stated in UESP) swings a daggar and HITS 4 times in succession. It states that each hit deals up to 894 damage.

My question is does that mean that "effectively" when I cast Flurry, I am doing 4*894 or just under 3600 pts of damage. Similar thing with Puncturing Strikes - it says it hits 3 times. The next sentence reads the SPEAR does 1189 to the closest and 619 to all others. Again, does that mean the total damage is 3*1189 (or approx 3600) to the closest and 3*619 (approx 1850) to all others.

    Yes, it does mean that.

Don't know where you're getting those numbers from. From a web page? From in game? If those are your in game numbers, then you are heavily specced into tankiness or you have a very new (low level) character and no CP, as perhaps evidenced by the fact you're referring to Puncturing Strikes rather than a morph, Puncturing Sweeps or Biting Jabs.

As a fully-levelled damage dealer your unbuffed Puncturing Sweeps tooltip should be in the 3K to 4K range per individual hit. Playing overland / questing doesn't require you to be a tank. I would recommend taking the magicka morph once that becomes available, e.g. Puncturing Sweeps, and spec into magicka / magicka regen for the time being. This will heal you for part of the damage done. You can then basically go ham on NPCs. You won't need to be tanky anymore.
PC EU: Magblade (PvP main), DK (PvE Tank), Sorc (PvP and PvE), Magden (PvE Healer), Magplar (PvP and PvE DD), Arcanist (PvE DD)
PC NA: Magblade (PvP and PvE every role)

Thanks. Yeah, the values are from one of the websites. I was more focused on if the total value was the 3 or 4 times multiple.
