Co-Op mode

My husband and I play together, and even though he does dungeons for the grind with PUGs, I would like to request a scaled version of the dungeons that:

• Has 0 (or only 1 "green-quality" piece of) loot drop at the end of the dungeon.
• The focus of this mode is not for reward, but for completing the quest, and learning the full mechanics without bothering other players by taking our time wandering the dungeon and exploring.

We are in a guild, but we aren't very social. We can't be the only ones who play this way. I stopped buying the dungeon-DLC's because there's no joy in chasing after multiple players rushing to finish their daily for one of the LONG DLC dungeons.

We're able to run normal dungeons when he plays on his healers and/or tanks, but we can't do everything, especially DLC dungeons. But some perspective: We did eventually complete Dragonstar (normal) just the 2 of us! It was challenging but not impossible, which I like.

Anyway, I'm sure others would be ok with it if there was no rewards, then there's nothing to gain above normal/veteran mode for dungeons. It would be for casuals like me! haha

I can sympathise with your situation, which I am sure is shared similarly by others.

In part, companions can help achieve more or less what you are looking for. If you and your husband each have a companion and you set these up to support you both as required (dps, healz, tonkz). Then you can carry on as normal but hopefully find much more content is achievable.

Personally I played for I think almost 2 years just completing primarily story content, over land delvs etc and world bosses, with one of my best friends. But as we progressed we started to encounter more and more content (dungeons/trials etc), particularly DLC (generally a bit harder), forcing us to group up with others, which we did not necessarily want to do. So I totally get where you are coming from.

Together we did completed a fair amount of content, just the two of us, but back then we did not have companions!

    That is all.

I understand what you are saying, but companions die like wet noodles to world bosses in new chapter zones even. We've seen them last maybe 20% of the fight. Will they actually make a difference in a 4-person dungeon or a 12-person trial?

Content should be scaled to the number of players, games do this all the time. A favorire example is Monster Hunter. Adding players to a hunt increases the health+damage+defense of monsters non-linearly. So the content revolves around single players and gets more difficult the more players you add, emphasizing teamwork.

A "story mode" for dungeons has been asked for a lot. But the better solution would be for them to scale the difficulty based on the number of players in the party (not counting companions - most of them die too easily for that). Since dungeons are instanced, this shouldn't be difficult for them to do. The rewards can also be scaled back, but frankly I wouldn't see a reason to do that if the difficulty is scaled to the number of players - a player in a party of 4 would experience the same difficulty as a solo player, in relative terms. But if they insisted on scaling back the rewards, I'd be okay with that, as long as stuff like leads could still drop. The idea here is to get away from having to group. This will become more important as the ESO population inevitably declines.

We gave been asking for our Story Mode back for dungeons since One Tamriel dropped. We used to be able to go to leveling zones on our Vets, do the dungeons, get the skill point, achievement and trash loot. But, we could enjoy the scenery and listen to the story.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Maybe we will join, but we just don't socialize well, talk much, etc. We suck at keeping up friendships between work and our other hobbies. Questing a new dungeon or trial shouldn't be 2 hours of lobby chat "LFG" messages, but also most times we just want to play alone, but not be limited by content for it.

DLC WBs are usually way way harder than most dungeons, theres only a few dungeons that have mechanics that will flat out kill the NPCs because they are too dumb to avoid them

if you have 2 players and 2 companions, most group dungeons on normal should be doable without too much effort, if you dont know mechanics, or dont have a decent build, then the DLC group dungeons will be more challenging
