Why do I have to keep switching weapons to loot mobs now

I keep having to switch weapons to have the loot option show up!

Where is this happening? Is it overland only, instanced contento only, or both?

Over land is where I have noticed it so far. Mostly on my stamina characters but some on the magicka ones.

I have been doing "roll dodges" to get around it.

Happening to me all the time too. Roll dodge or bar switch fixes it, but I personally find bar switch more convenient.

Same, corpses and material nodes in surveys are often untargetable. I just roll dodge and then I can loot.

Same here. PC EU and in all kinds of content. Overland, instanced, grouped or solo. On all characters.

I think its a UI bug, because I have noticed problems with the targeting reticle, too.

Its really annoying.

Same issue. Interaction is locking up frequently after combat and you have to roll or weapon swap to break out of it.

Looks to be what we lovingly refer to as "an unexpected meat ball in the spaghetti."

@jtm1018 maybe try a heavy attack, it doesnt have to be at anything in particular. i find thats another method that helps me out with this bug

We've been asking them for years to please fix the stuck in combat bug. What do we get? An expanded stuck in combat bug with a wider range of consequences.

It's not the stuck in combat bug as I am out of combat when it happens. For me, it started after the necrom release, although I know others who have said it just got worse with the release.

Really started big time with the Necrom update (last week for me on PS) and is extremely annoying. Before this it was an occasional thing.

Good ideas. I've just been noticing the problem (on PC NA), and generally solved it by killing the NEXT mob.

There is definitely a new level of combat.

My Votan's mini-map is programmed to autohide when I'm in combat, as it frees up more screen space. Once I leave combat, it reappears. And it has performed as expected in this manner for years, and it was always correct. However, since Necrom dropped, the combat coding is different. My mini-map will reappear, but I am still in some sort of combat, as I can't mount, loot, read mail, etcetera. So with the changes to the map functionality as well as the ubiquitous need to bar swap or roll dodge to enable looting.... something definitely changed in the way combat is programmed with Update 38.

This has been an oft-complained about problem for some time now. /reloadui, weapon swap or dodge roll seem to help. As an Oakensoul user, I appreciate a recent similar thread where I learned dodge roll helps.

I experience the same. Must switch weapons, or roll dodge if one-bar build. Can be looting a mob, or gathering resources. Instance and overland, no difference.

It happens very often on my mag arcanist (either healer or DD build) and rarely necro.

Yeah, I got this problem as an unwelcome "Welcome to Necrom!" gift when the new chapter released. (And for the first time I didn't even buy that one...)

Never experienced this bug until the chapter went live (PC EU), and ever since that day it happens regularly. After combat I can't loot or interact, in overland as well as delves/dungeons. Weapon swap or roll dodge help, but it is so frequent that it is really annoying.

Thankfully I have not had this happen yet, although I frequently get the "not in range" error when trying to loot, even though I'm standing right over the enemy I'm trying to loot from. So I have to run around the enemy and try from all sorts of angles just to be able to loot it and even then sometimes I'm unable to loot it.

I must say that I noticed this "feature" after the new patch. It happens so often that I've assigned the thumb button on my MX Master 2S mouse to tab so I can bar-swap instantly.

Hope this gets fixed soon.

This happened when I made a new alt for Arcanist and I was doing the quest to start daily crafting writs. I couldn't loot or even harvest the nodes to complete the quest and I kept thinking what a horrible first impression this makes for a new player. They can't complete a basic beginner quest because they can't even do basic actions like loot or harvest nodes.

Yep, happening occasionally on PSEU.

Noticed first on Arcanist & thought might be due to cruz floating around in the way, especially as if use up can then loot.

But happens on other chars too.

As stated by plenty of others, it's a new bug. I may or may not create a new Argonian character named "Rolls-Past-Bugs" as a bit of tongue in cheek until they fix it.

I assume this will be a stamina build because you wont be able to sustain a mag build.

It's happened to me in dungeons, too. I just roll dodge and it fixes it, but this really needs to be addressed.
