Vivec city question for the Devs.

Why can't we get some building progress in the city with some updates? It's been the same way since Morrowind came out. It would be more fun to explore the progress of the city. Heck, you could even add some types of quest to help the builders. I mean how many years ago since Morrowind came out?

Well it is old content and old content rarely gets new content on it except for lead locations.

There is so much potential with the Cantons even housing. I know it's old content but it's i city being built. How hard could it be to add upgrades to it?

Shouldnt be hard at all, but it's old content and updating / adding new stuff to old (already sold) content doesnt generate new money.

It would probably need a new instance, one that can only be accessed by players who have done the Morrowind main quest. And I suspect that's why we'll never see things like that unfortunately.

Agreed. Not to mention the frozen timeline to ensure "play as you want"

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

ESO's Nirn is stuck at 2E 582, and there is no official acknowledgement of years passing. Medieval stonework structures take years, perhaps even decades to build, especially if the construction is done by hand, medieval cranes (giant "hamster wheels"), with animal caravans/sailing ships to transport materials from quarries, etc. I wouldn't expect it to be fully built in ESO's time, same thing goes with (spoilers for Greymoor, High Isle and Firesong):
      • Tower of the Wolf in Solitude, which is not rebuilt in it's glory in TES V.
      • Colossus of Gonfalon Bay.
      • Vastyr Cathedral.

Yeah, I didn't think about that. I guess it was hard to believe that some players don't have the Morrowind chapter by now. I thought the base game came with it now.

They had this with Orsinium. The city would be under construction but slowly complete as you did the quest and I think there were random NPC spawns in the overland where you could donate some gold to a fund that repaired and enhanced the city. But I think it separated players into different instances based on status of city, which was a hassle if you wanted to play with friends (the infamous, "I can see the groupmate arrow above your head but I can't see your character"). And Orsinium always had a lot of problems with crashing and even characters getting "stuck" in Orsinium because game would crash immediately upon loading in. There were entire threads dedicated to ZOS support "moving" characters to a different location so the player could load in without crashing. Maybe that had something to do with dynamic look of the city?

So what you are asking for is definitely something ZOS have thought about and even done. But for whatever reason, they stopped doing it. So it was either unpopular or had technical issues or something. Or maybe people liked it but it was just not enough of a difference maker for ZOS to put the time and resources into doing it again. Sometimes there is flavor and color you would like to add if you had infinite hours in the day and infinite developers, but with limited time and limited people, some features fall by the wayside.

It's part of the base game now, yes. That doesn't mean however that a player has done the quests. And of course there are new players and/or alts to consider.

It's not like it's bad idea, I'd love to have something like that. Not only for Vivec City, but also for Bleakrock after the Covenant invasion and Camlorn. But sadly it's not likely to ever see something like this happen.
