Xbox player , leveld to 50 and been playing in bgs getting the mmr up and its only when you start to get higher you notice the real lack of dmg and especially healing this class class, no proper burst heal and without crux it has no dmg..the problem being you need crux for your heals/shield so if your on the defensive you cannot get back on the front foot because you will need the crux for defence again especially out numbered..
Really wanted to like this class as in Pve it's great but pvp it's no where near the other classes. Crux is needed to get the same damage and defence potential as other classes but you can't have both at the same time and without any crux it's bottom tier easily.

The reason I believe the class suffers in PvP is because it's main damage ability is a manual aimed channel, you cannot weave while channeling and unlike NPCs players tend to move making hitting them very difficult to hit anyone.

It's also the crux system making it underpowered unless you have 3 crux to bring it up to par..BUT you need crux for offence and defence meaning you cannot go from offence to.defence or vice versa easily without using skills in-between to build crux again

Most people are complaining it's too good in pvp.

In low level mmr it seemed like it was, in higher level, or against any one decent that can apply any kind of pressure its bottom tier. As I say you have to play defensive with no crux it has no heals, amd if you go offensive with no crux it has no dmg

I would look at your build, because many people aren't sharing this issue or make s poll in pvp section.

Keep pressing enter on poll options till poll menu goes to 2nd menu.

To be fair I've seen a few posts already with this exact issue.

You can play semi successful with arena weapons but can do it better on other classes. And this defeats the point of the arcanist and its play style.
By doing this playstyle your crux is used for defense only as you are not beaming, which is why this playstyle is somewhat better.

Spent a few days levelling everything, now just a bank space character. It's total trash in pvp.

Good luck killing someone good on another class. It has zero burst.

Survival is ok, IF you have crux. If you don't, rip.

Yea the same for me I have everything fully leveld, all passivs etc with skill points to spare, tries several pvp builds, I mainly bg or IC and the higher the mmr has got the more it's struggled to deal with increased pressure that on my magplar (main) I cam shrug off no problem..its just the power level without crux is so bad..as in 0 healing other than vigor, runemend is not reliable as its a small heal and 9/10 times goes to someone else anyway amd impervious ward requires 3 crux to be worthwhile which once gone under pressure you are stuffed, you may get 1 from your armour but you can't go on the offence to get another 2..
Which the means you also lack burst from the beam as you have used your crux on impervious.
Other classes don't rely on the same buff stacking mechanic to buff damage and defence and for good reason. This class as I said easily underperformed other classes and will be further down the pecking order with crux now falling off

Il add this class was definitely not pvp play tested or they would know that beam hits nothing in cyro and has issues as above

There are multiple alternatives to Fatecarver. You can either use Tentacular Dread for burst damage and a debuff, or Runespite Ward for a healing damage shield (nice with Cephaliarch's Flail). Among others.

The class has other shortcomings in PvP, of course. Problem is if you use non-class abilities to shore up the weaknesses, you miss out on crux passives.

I expect the arcanist to be out of balance in PvP due to the simple fact that they've been slowly phasing out Cyrodiil for years now by continuous lowering of the population caps, then they just removed the faction health bonus for emp and removed an entire campaign worth of rewards by creating a 52 day campaign when they released Necrom, as well as lowering the AP gain rate for repairing and killing other players. And try mentioning cyrodiil or PvP in a ZOS life stream and see what happens.

The tentacle is not burst damage. Even at 20% health it hits for like 4k against good players.

It hits for nothing. Plus it's really clunky.

It’s quite underpowered. As a healer, there is no burst on that side either. For some reason the class has 9 shield skills. The beam heal is strong, but only for tight stacked plays. No real buffs to provide outside of undaunted or resto staff skill lines. So don’t complain to where they nerf it like they gutted necros because you can’t dodge roll or press block in pvp.

It’s a safe bet that PvP, high mmr in particular, was not a major consideration when designing the class.

So I been trying to find ways to make it work and although still not great I find that using a resto instead of an ice staff and only using rhe shield reactively really helps to bump the healing amd keep health topped similar to an old school sorc. Making use of camo hunter and passivs allowing tri pots also helps.
I've also swapped to mag arc and only using vigor and Flail as stam dumps which seems better

Runeblades would be better if it wasn’t 22m. It needs to be at least 28.

I compared all execute skills and it turnes out flail is better than reverceslice, NB execute and spin2win. Flail's numbers are clearly supperior compared to these. Cheese beam is still the strongest numbers wise.

It may be clunky but you cant say it's damage is low because the damage is better than other executes.

When compared to spin to win its lower I believe if you take the dw passivs into account

The problem is easily solved, zos just need to give the beam a morph with instant cast, when accumulating charges, and the maintained beam is best left for pve, or for those geniuses who can find a use for the beam with maintenance in pvp. As for me, for such purposes, there should be morphs that change the principle of the ability, and not just add a slowdown or, alternatively, reduce mana consumption, all this is garbage, and more like a gag, one of the successful solutions that I always bring to an example when I say how morphs should works is the morph of the ability Crystal Weapon and Crystal Fragments, one ability but with a different principle of work in morphs, and not just replacing some numerical values with others
