Just want to get some advice on your builds since i play on console and get to create one tomorrow. It looks like it has a lot of ranged attacks on console, so is daggers and 2h a thing ? Im thinking to use primary bow and secondary maelstrom inferno to try something new.

Also does the arcanist theme feel more like it she be played as a stamina or magica damage dealer ?

I run as Stamina even with a staff. I can use magicka for all the utility and use stamina for the DPS skills. I have two different builds- but both run max Stamina with an Altmer. On the staff build I run 2xMed and 5xLight, on the DW Dagger build, I run 3xMed and 4xLight.

Because the Arcanist is basically designed to be a hybrid, it works really well this way.

Arcanist works pretty good both as magicka and stamina damage dealer. Personally I am playing stamina one bar arcanist with 5x Deadly strike 5x Pillar of Nirn 1x Slimecraw and oakensoul ring. With this build I can get around 75-80k dps on raid dummy.

Most of arcanist's skills have range between 15m to 22m so even with bow or staff you have to get closer to your target. Considering lower range I'd say melee weapons on arcanist work better.

If you’re going with ranged and planning to use the beam and Cephaliarchs flail, I recommend lightning staff front bar, maelstrom bow back bar, even for a stamina build. It seems well tuned for a stamina build. There’s a -LOT- of AOE damage in the build that the lightning staff will buff

Ahh thanks for the advice. On my main character (stamplar) i use duel wield and inferno staff on the backbar and has always worked for me, sustain is perfect to. I will give it a try on the arcanist.

Thanks for letting me know. In all the videos advertising the build it looks like its more of a ranged build so i was wondering how people were light attack weaving with daggers from range shooting the green things, using the green beam and arm tentacle,

Jeez thanks. Its funny cause I was wondering if i put all my points into stamina and use a staff on the front bar how it would work out and now i see your comment. Thought I was the only one thinking about this but I will give it a try. You gave me a reason to try a lightning staff to since im always thinking the inferno staff is the “best” staff.

Stamarc allows for better resource management..

    Why?

Your damage and heals consume your highest max resource. But many skills (buffs and CC) consume Magicka. By having Stam as your max resource, you split resource costs across 2 pools. Otherwise if you're max Magicka you're pull predominantly from 1 pool.

Stamarc is definitely the way to go if you play a DPS (or tank) in PVP.

I still run a Lightning Staff on frontbar, to buff the class kit of AOEs.

Gear wise Ansuul and Deadly is way to go along with Velothi Ur-Mage's Amulet mythic. If you have Coral Riptide as well you can also use it instead of Ansuul but it requires resource management. Deadly dual wield with daggers. Nirnhoned and Charged as traits. Poison and Flame as enchants.

Maelstrom Inferno or Bow is a good choice for back bar weapon.

Crux generating is done via Cephaliarch's Flail and Inspired Scholarship. Once you reach three crux you use Fatecarver skill. No need to use any light attack in this build at all as well.

For other skills choosing long ones might help to for rotation since Fatecarver is around five seconds cast time if cast with three crux. Quick Cloak and Fire Rune is good long skills. Both bar will have Camouflaged Hunter to give you more Weapon and Spell damage and this will also allow you to run Heroism potions.
