Skill Morphs should be named similar to the Base Skill

It is very frustrating when trying to set up skills and the name of the Morph isn't even remotely similar to the name of the Base Skill. For example, Tome-Bearer's Inspiration Morphs into Recuperative Treatise and Inspired Scholarship.

Why couldn't the Morphs be named something like Tome-Bearer's Treatise and Tome-Bearer's Scholarship? That would make more sense and make them much easier to identify.

I prefer that they are different. For me it helps avoid confusing the base and the morph.

I gave up paying any attention to the titles. I just read (and re-read however many times I need to) the description so I can decide which is better.

And.... I have to say, sometimes I just do not want the "advised morph"....

Too me they look similar but don't disagree there's a problem. It's harder for newer players to follow some guides as no idea what base skill was

I just find it makes it difficult to set up my skill bar if I have to keep looking up what the base skill name is.

It should be a lot easier to look that up in-game. You should also be able to see what the morphs are before unlocking them so you know what to go for, especially when it comes to morphs that change the resource type.

If you hover your mouse over a skill doesn't it already say "Morph of [Skill]" at the top right?
I'm pretty certain this isn't from one of my addons but I might be wrong.

Yes, it does. I'd prefer that ZOS spend their time fixing higher priority problems.

@SilverBride you should join the PTS and let them know when there is still potential to change it.
Maybe next time. I agree it's not the most clear. I've also accepted that eso sometimes requires a hand computer while playing. Sometimes other players don't know it all when you ask.

That would help, too, but I believe it's the responsibility of ZoS first and foremost to make things like this less confusing. Having to keep going back and forth to get the name of the base skill to place in the skill bar is time consuming and annoying. The builds tell the morphed name but a new character doesn't have the Morphs yet.

But as per my previous example, making the names more similar just makes more sense.

The names are ok. The creativity (or lack, sometimes) is fun.

For the most part they do. At least in written guides, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that didn’t link the skills in their build, which takes you to that skill tree with a description of the base and both morph options.

I don't know if it does or doesn't, but that doesn't help when we don't have the Morphed skill yet.

Rather than a similar name, which I would find confusing and am glad they have distinct names, I'd prefer if they just put in the description what the skill is a morph of. Or maybe even in the name.

So it would be Recuperative Treatise (Morph of Tome Bearer's Inspiration).

    Edit

I do agree this is an issue though

So it would be Recuperative Treatise (Morph of Tome Bearer's Inspiration).

I like this idea but my biggest issue is finding the base skill before I have the Morph.

When I am setting up a build that recommends Recuperative Treatise it is not intuitive for me to know that I need to place Tome-Bearer's Inspiration on my skill bar.

On the other hand, Runeblades Morphs into Escalating Runeblades and Writhing Runeblades. This makes sense and when I see a build that recommends either of these Morphs it is obvious which base skill I need to place on the skill bar. It would be much less confusing if they were all named more clearly like this.

It's funny, watching some Youtuber's trying to talk about skills and have them finally just say, "Who comes up with these stupid names?"

You should ask them to come up with their own suggestions for names that are relevant, original, and not easily confused with other skills and names. I don't suppose it's that easy!

Personally, I have no problem with the morph names the base origins of which are detailed in the description, and if the issue is when following a build guide then that's down to whoever writes the guide to make it clear what the base skills are for the recommended morphs.

I just applaud whoever comes up with the rare fish names, they're brilliant!
