After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic, as it's asking the community for assistance.
Seriously??
How many threads in General Discussion have asked if this is normal or just RNG - what's the difference here?
It's a simple question - not asking for any assistance - do bookshelves in Necrom ever give skill boosts.
If you are asking a question then you are technically asking for assistance in seeking an knowledgeable answer 😉.
If that were the case, every question in General Discussion would be moved here.
Yet General Discussion is full of questions about game mechanics vs RNG.
In any event, now that this question has been moved here, does anybody have an answer:
Do Necrom bookshelves ever give skill boosts?
And if not, is the first chapter where they don't?
I don't believe I've ever seen a recent DLC bookshelf ever give skill advances. I know I've looked on bookshelves in High Isle, and never received anything from them either. I also don't think I saw any skill advances as far back as Morrowind or Summerset. It seems skill advances might only come with the base game shelves, not sure about Wrothgar or TG/DB.
Long story short: yes, they do, and I've had them on almost every world map area. It's quite rare though Perhaps 4-5 per map. I haven't been able to pinpoint any specific location of these books, so I assume it's random. Necrom is no different in this regard and it would make sense you get some skill xp with new characters.
People who claim they never had any skill advancement from recent DLC's are probably maxed out on the skill before reading said book. Or they could be just plain unlucky. Take your pick.
