Herald's Seekers broken aggro?

I've been playing through Necrom, doing side-quests, etc. etc., but I keep running into this issue that's making it a tad annoying to progress.

Occasionally, when I'm talking to an NPC, sorting my inventory, or just doing anything out in the Telvanni Peninsula wilderness, I get attacked by a Herald's Seeker. Problem is, the Seeker in question is miles away, I never even came close enough to it to get its attention, but it keeps spawning tentacles around where I'm standing and attacking me. I'm not in any stage of trying to access Bastion Nymic, I did not attack the Seeker previously, and often I don't even know where it is.

Above is a screenshot from one such encounter - Seeker nowhere in sight, I was mid-dialogue with a quest NPC. Didn't even find the Seeker in question. What's common across all these cases is whenever I do find the Seeker that attacked me, another player is already fighting it. But it makes no sense for it to randomly target people in such a massive radius just because it's in combat with a player, so I am assuming this is a bug? Is anyone else experiencing this? I hope this isn't how it's intended to work, because if so that'd be really strange.

    this is one of the common complaints about the seekers noted in the main bastion nymic thread

    the enemy itself is essentially a wandering world boss, but the problem is that it will use this tentacle attack on ANY player within a certain radius of itself regardless if they are actively fighting it or not

    so in your case there was some player nearby (i dont know the exact range limit on the skill is but i know its a bit larger than 28 meters, probably closer to 40-50 meters) who was fighting the herald seeker and you just happened to be in range for it to spawn this attack

    its large enough that ive been hit by a herald seeker that was across a river that was large enough you would have to swim through

    i would definitely agree its a bug, since this tentacle attack is the only one that seems to hit random people

    i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

    I see, thank you for the response! I wasn't aware it was mentioned in the Bastion Nymic thread - I've never even attempted the Bastion since I don't want to group with random people for it, so I kind of periodically forget it exists lol. I've noticed the Seekers wandering around, and they remind me of some of the wandering bosses that Deadlands (and I think Firesong also) had, but the tentacle attack is such a peculiar mechanic. I don't recall any of the other wandering bosses working like this, so I hope that it is indeed a bug.

    It's happened to me that there was a whole cliff between me and the Seeker, and I couldn't even climb it, I'd have to run around it, and I was just getting relentlessly attacked as I was trying to harvest some resource I found. I do hope they intend to fix it soon-ish since I like to read the full NPC dialogue when I do quests and this is maybe the third time that I got attacked like this just going through the dialogue options.

    the herald seekers are far weaker than the wandering WBs in the deadlands, but they are far more annoying by attacking random players in range even if they arent in combat with the enemy lol

    i would chalk it up to a bug right now, and if your getting attacked by tentacles to just give it a few minutes until the seeker is killed before trying to interact with the quest giver (they do have a respawn time, though they are all over the place on telvanni penninsula, and far more spread out in apocrypha)

    I had zoned into an area and there were tentacles immediately hitting me and others at a wayshrine, with no seeker anywhere in sight.

    The problem also is that there are many of them. I have seen up to three in the same place at once.

    yeah, though that is actually a boon if your trying to get ichor (5 is way too many)
