After two days into the new class I've to say I really enjoy playing around with my newly created arcanist.

    How about you?

I gave it a spin, and am back to my Templar.

The building element can be a deterrent, and the anime energy beam that locks you in sealed the NO deal for me.

Oh, and those perpetual spinning neon green triangles.. smh.

You can interrupt the beam via blocking just like with our Templar Jesus beam.

To the OP’s question I am enjoying my time playing the arcanist. I’m a healer main and it’s different enough to the main healing classes where there’s a learning curve similar to when Necro debuted which is enjoyable. The only question for me is will it be a meta trial pick for support especially after the inevitable balancing patch.

Ive just got it stationed next to stables for daily mount and daily decon for crafting levelling, im not enthusiastic about it at all it will be another crafting alt soon. Ive been touring Nekrom ticking off boxes on a couple of nbs actually and enjoying the new chapter that way.

Too much distracting green stuff, and this is just watching other people when I walk through town.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

Yup, the Disco Spinning Light Show that you can't turn off.

I have to wonder if they took the idea from DAoC's Warlock. Builder, spinning lights, then a big spend to unload.

The first look of the class underwhelmed me a lot. This class seems way to focused on one theme, that being Hermaeus Mora. Yes the story involves him this expansion, but the class seems far to focused on him.

I have a character of every other class, I enjoy playing every other class. But when I saw arcanist I was quite disappointed. Seems more like Hermaeus Mora disciple class.

Personally when I hear the word acranist, I think of some epic spellweaver, similar to the Mage class in World of Warcraft.
I have yet to even touch this class or the new expansion.

This is just to much green stuff. I don't think ESO needed a new class now, and this class is a bit of a disappointment.

Love the class, love the visuals and color, 10/10 would chuck green nachos at things again.

Seriously though, this is way more fun than warden or necro were. I'm loving it as much as I do templar.

It’s my least favorite class and I’m thinking about deleting it before I put too much time into it (I probably won’t) Not a fan of the theme and visuals and all the classes feel the same to me anyway so messing up the class theme for me is a no go. Could have gotten a traditional TES class or better yet spears, sword + magic skill lines. Instead…this.

    I'll wait for the sale.

A wise choice. I wish I would have waited for the sale, and even then there is a good chance I still wouldn't buy Necrom on sale.

I'm not happy with the zone or the Arcanist as a class. It's just too many overbearing animations. Some of the cast times for skills are 4.5 seconds, so the class is slow and clunky. I like fast paced combat, not slow and clunky with unnecessary obnoxious animations.

    I didn't create an arcanist
I haven’t bought the chapter yet, so no I haven’t created one. I did have a fairly brief play with the class on PTS and some of the skills and effects were okay, but first impressions were a bit underwhelming. It just didn’t click with me. The beams and light effects brought back some fond 90s rave vibes and memories, so that was cool. It’s nice to see other players having fun with it

Regardless, I already have the two characters I need and no desire to expand on that number.

I absolutely love the arcanist. I particularly enjoy the sound effects and the new combat style. Less clickity clack and more positioning and aiming and thinking about next move. Also more survivability, and while my parse hasn't increased compared to my main, my in content dps may have increased a little. I have more confidence now to do vet dungeons and not be a liability on the group. Something I'm all too conscious about.

Also the class feels surprisingly smooth, which I didn't expect after knowing that the spammable (flail) has a 0.3 seconds cast time.

I definitely like the Arcanist (both the playstyle and the visuals, including the floating Crux triangles). I took a small break from ESO back in December, tried the Arcanist on the PTS and liked it enough to preorder Necrom because of it.

Of course I wouldn't be opposed to a toggle that players can use to turn off the Arcanist's effects that cause motion sickness, migraines or other issues, and I won't really mind it if the saturation and/or brightness of all visuals are toned down slightly. I do hope however that ZoS doesn't alter the visuals too drastically in general due to what seems to be a loud minority that just hates the (green) effects.

I created one but have mostly been working on her crafting so she can start doing writs. How much I actually play her will be dependent on if they give us some options to remove the circling triangles and tone down the neon green effects, or if there are add-ons to do this. Otherwise she will just do writs.

I've played from 2014 onwards and with only Nightblades so far.

I created a Dunmer arcanist and i'll try to make it a tank build. So far, it is fun to play and very unique in terms of skills and visuals.

    Definitely i have enjoyed it.
    NB enthusiastic:
    1. Woodhippie stamblade - DW hard-hitter / PvE
    2. Know-it-all elf Magblade - Healer / PvE & PvP
    3. Hate-them-all elf Magblade - Destrostaff AoE monster / PvE
    4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

    Go dominion or go home

Nightblade-Hipster. I played Nightblade before it was cool - from 1.5 onwards.

This isn't the first time a class has been added that introduces a fundamentally new way to play, but it is the most departed from traditional ESO classes.

Necromancer's corpse game was annoying to me because in addition to managing corpse positions, you also had to keep an eye on timers. I understand why corpses go away fairly quickly, as several necromancers in an area could make things stutter if you were allowed to have perpetual corpse fields.

The arcanist, however, spends and gains its resource naturally through use of its class abilities. It rewards you for timing, for playing to the rhythm of the class. I've gotten into the groove of generating three crux and spending, not hoarding them waiting for the exact right moment. While I've only had about 10 hours hands-on the last two and a half days, it's enough that if the combat loop were going to feel repetitive I'd feel it. As of now, it doesn't.

Hats off to ZOS for the class design. Hopefully we see more of this type of combat shakeup in the future.

I'm honestly having so much fun with mine.

I do think the fact that Crux persists until its used instead of being purged when combat ends was not a good choice. Particularly since Crux can't be built outside of combat, so why should it hang around when combat's ended? Hopefully that'll be a change they make in the future (and then people won't have to deal with hundreds of glowy triangles in the center of towns)

But it just feels really fun to go around with him. Even just button mashing is really satisfying when you hear the sounds of the class. I also love how... otherworldly... it feels, because that seems to fit nicely with the unnatural Daedric sourcing of the skills.

    No.

As a person who plays in 1st person/3rd person centered with camera as close to my character as possible, the Arcanist is miserable to play (Crux propeller).

R.I.P. Arcanist, deleted and sadly I will never play this class as is. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an improvement.

The zone looks and feels great. I'm enjoying the environment and stories!

I'm really enjoying the class myself, but I do understand why people would say it's too flashy, and I do hope ZoS add a setting to reduce that for others without effecting those personally enjoying the flashiness.

I've only started levelling mine, but I'm on the fence about it: on the one hand it's always nice to play a new class, discovering what the skills do, figuring out the playstyle, etc., and I really like the functionality of some of the skills, on the other hand the animations and visuals in general are really intrusive and tiring on the eyes. I was in a group with 2 more arcanists and when the shields and beams went out it was pretty awful.
