What does everyone think of Arcanist's dynamic resource selection?

First impression: It is unbelievable garbage. I have a heal - Runemend. I want it to cost magicka on a stamina build, because it is a utility skill and I don't use it all the time. Can't do it. I'm not even playing a tank right now, but how is this ever going to work on tank where your stamina must be > your magicka for synergies to work. My first major expletive removed moment here. Both morphs have the dynamic scaling. On top of that the UI is confusing, because it only indicates the correct resource once you place the skill on the bar. If you have one morph on the bar and play around at the respec shrine, it looks like one costs stam, the other costs mag until you finalise the selection. Really bad UI design. I suppose you can work around this by building to change your max resource with a bar swap. I guess that may the reason why the UI was made this confusing? Does that make for good gameplay? I don't know yet. Certainly doesn't see beginner friendly.

They did add text explaining which it scales off of and I don't think the heal would be good on a tank anyways. I think I'm net neutral about it. It's cool but it also solidifies mag and stam as just kinda opposites of the same build and lowers choice of skills.

It nudges you towards pure magicka or stamina builds in a meta that has otherwise become hybrid. I find that really weird. I can also assure you that self-heals on tanks are a thing. Coagulating Blood is a thing. Tanks invest into mag regen, but a higher stam than magicka pool for a reason. Maybe this heal is not particularly good, I don't know. It looks decent enough and it's useful to have something.

EDIT: I suppose if you balance your max stat to change on barswap, you can place this skill on both bars to cost different resources. It might be interesting to play with stuff like that, but realistically double-barring a skill is too much of a sacrifice. I've never found builds with hybrid options of very similar skills, such as stam burst heal + mag burst heal, nice to play. It's always felt like wasted bar space and added hassle of watching your resources. A good build can do perfectly well and is IMO easier to play if you statically match the regen of each resource to the skills that you use.

i like it. with other classes some morphs are better than than the other and if it's stamina instead of magicka and it's a spammable you kinda have to prioritise magicka but for arcanist you can choose the skill regardless of which resource you prioritize

I can see that for the spammable, but not the heal ... unless I guess I was playing a healer. This just doesn't seem good for a solo player or a tank.

I guess it is what it is. Level 20 now and warming up to the gameplay. It plays different and I guess it builds different. Couldn't say I'd want this for the other classes, though.

It's definitely interesting, although there will be much testing to be done before anything substantial can be said about it.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.
