    General
Detection Potions: Reduced the bonus detection size of these potions to 43.5 meters, down from 100 meters. These values will ensure similar power experiences and detection sizes as before, with the new updates to how Invisibility works with detection bonuses under the hood.

Any idea of 'under the hood'?
Searched both 'invisible' and 'detect' in patch notes.

I have heard something that this is not for invisibility of Nightblade and Invisibility potions. So the range for detection for invisibility is same. But you will be detecting sneaking people with the new range.

But i can not confirm this.

There's a vid on youtube where it shows a nightblabe cloaks and the other guy retreats until the nightblade is no longer visible to demonstrate what the 43 meters looks like.

So sadly, it looks like ZoS has gone through with this bizarre and unjustified 'adjustment'.

Actually I've done tests on latest PTS and now stealth detection range =/= invisibility detection range. Invisibility (cloak including) detection range hasn't changed, what got changed is stealth/sneak detection which is now 43 meters.

In conclusion it's more of a nerf to everyone except of NB's :)

So how long is the detection meter eye indication range when sneaking around someone using a potion?

So if nbs have unlocked out of sight/7 piece medium/are cats...we're looking at approx 27m detect range on those pots, not 40m?

    and yes

this sounds bad for the notorious Ad guild that likes to sit in fields to gank :P

    As anyone.

Nbs have a temp work around, but they have to spam cloak.

I am happy I have gotten to experience the IC story a few times, because I will never go in the pvp areas there ever again.

It is "only" 43 meters now lol :joy: .

I will be honest. I don't have a clue what is the reason behind this change - because it possibly can not be game balance.

43 meters is still way too much and will be abused like there is no tomorrow. I guess it is better than 100 meters (which btw looked like a typo on PTS or something  ).

All it will really do is to kill diversity even more, so if you are not a DK or Arcanist next patch you will be handicapped heavily.

Doing PvE in Cyro / IC will be close to impossible if some people will decide to camp objectives, as they will have excellent tool added to their arsenal. There will basically a way to remove PvE-ers from questing hubs.

And since detection potions do not respect line of sight - you will often be detected through walls and forced to fight mobs that you were supposed to sneak by (detection potions block your ability to sneak).

But the worst that will happen is how it will affect PvP.

Staying not detected inside a keep once it is taken or within deff / off AP tick radius will be close to impossible. All it takes is one player standing in the middle of the keep + one potion and every one is revealed (remember, this stuff works through walls and prevents targets to go back to sneak for the duration).

Ball Groups for sure will run those potions with 100% uptime (all it takes is two players or one with dedicated build). Why ? Well to be immune to stealth bombing of course - one of the tactics against those groups that can be considered relatively effective.

I also think that it won't stop gankers. Not at least in the same way as it will stop players who use sneak defensively. Invisibility via vampire passive or NB's cloak can still be used to suppres detection potions - but you need to literally spam it like crazy. So the only build that for the most part will be able to stay invisible (barely) is mag NB / mag NB Vamp.

I guess with detection potions staying for good with 43 meters range, it would be fair to ask for ZOS so that we would finally have an "eye" indicator who is using Detection Potions. Reveal skills with smaller range have it, but potions with range larger than snipe do not ? What kind of balance is that lol ?! :joy:

Yeah that "eye" indicator would be really welcome. As detection potion lovers said many times "everything needs a counter" so I would like to know who I need to kill to counter being detected
