✭✭✭✭✭It's not that it was intentional, when they upgraded the EU servers it was sort of an after effect. They had to do a simultaneous maintenance on all PC servers and services to sync them back up, that's why they all went down at the same time to fix it.2 -

The 5 minute wait between switching servers was intentional. It was related to the crown crate gifting issue they’re still trying to fix:
