Can we finally fix the combat bug?

Lets be honest, this bug has been a plague on this game since as long as I can remember.

I am genuinely curious HOW DIFFICULT it could possibly be to implement a fifteen second timer to the last time you took damage, did damage, or healed someone. This is not something that needs a monster amount of resources. A simple timer would be eons better than what we have right now. Why on earth do I get put back into combat for several minutes after I leave a combat situation? I can be outside of cyro and I will STILL be stuck in combat sometimes. Now it even persists through death at times.

I agree, but I think the time would have to be 60 seconds due to some skills lasting that long once applied to a player.

It is crazy how you can still be stuck in combat even if you leave cyrodiil. So just put a timer on it so that after 1 min of no combat you are automatically out of combat.

I was about to say WHICH bug, but yeah I'd love to see this one fixed.
Sounds like it's esp bad in Cyro but even in PVE where I spend most of my time it's still an issue.

I'd also love to see the other combat bugs fixed like abilities not firing after I break free, or my 2H attacks just missing even tho I'm absolutely in range of the target's hitbox.

Combat in general really needs some tuning and TLC, kinda baffled that they've been around as long as they have, it's not like these are minor things. :/

We can't. ZOS could, [snip] so the issue is ongoing for several years by now...

([snip] that they keep making other things dependent on the broken in combat status - an example leaving cyrodiil is often impossible now as you cannot use the wayshrine while being in combat in the safe corner fort where no enemy faction ever possibly get)

I truly enjoy being stuck in combat because I ran past a imp or a nix-hound, who then followed me across Tamriel only to wait for me to try to use a wayshine, which told me I am stuck in combat, and then bite me once and run away.

I would even settle for sixty seconds. I even am stuck in combat when I feed the fishies sometimes :(

You cant even check your mail, or use a port stone. All because someone pulled a wolf hiding under a rock somewhere.

ZOS' response to this has been to release "While (stuck) in combat..." sets, of which a couple more will be released on Monday. And considering that anyone can put themselves in combat at any time thanks to the alchemy system that has been in place for nine years, it seems to be a new direction in which we are going, combat wise.

If it really is as hard as they make it out to be to fix, then why don't they simple just change things around the bug so we can do stuff in combat. Let us mount in combat, but make it a slightly slower animation and start with half stamina if they are worried about people abusing it to escape fights in PvP, make wayshrines do the port animation when trying to use it in combat and if nothing disrupts you, off you go. I don't know why the mail has to be locked for combat, but I can see why skills and gear would need to stay locked out, but if that is such a big problem, make it so that for gear at least, you need to wait for your character to do the Costume change animation first before a gear piece is removed, and then again to put something on to stop people just hotswapping mid PvP

Anything is better than the situation we have at the moment. Three hours I was stuck in combat yesterday, just to test, and even after I was put of combat, it would glitch and force me back in even though I was waiting at main base eating pizza, lmao.

The best workaround I found so far, is using a 'self destruction' potion: Blessed Thistle + Fleshfly Larva + Nightshade (no points in Snakeblood passive). You will drop dead in about 10s wherever you are, and the combat bug will be gone.

Well, in Cyrodiil death does not remove you from combat. Plenty of times I've died and resurrected at the transitus and still been unable to mount, open mail, etc. So, it's completely on ZOS. No reason to further degrade my KDR just to work around bugs we have no control over and that ZOS doesn't seem to know how to (or want to) fix.

The problem with a timer ending in-combat is what resets that timer when we remain in real combat for longer th an 15 seconds. Heck, there could already be a timer that ends combat but continues to be reset.

What needs to be done is to find the root cause of the problem and fix it. Since I have not seen a thread related to this subject in the Dev Tracker I expect no one is looking at the issue.

I know what you mean, but when you die by the potion I mentioned, it always removes you from combat (I’ve used it hundreds on times already with all my toons, both in pvp and pve areas, and it didn’t fail even once yet)

Unfortunately as an argonian, this is not something that works, and on my nightblade she is too tanky to die from that, this only works on my werewolf. Even then, I have rezed and been in combat still. Its crazy really.

Thats all fine and well, but they could just remove that requirement and make it so you are out once you dont heal or take damage for 15 seconds, period. Or 60, I dont care, but something needs to be done, this just reeks of laziness.

If you craft what I said, it will kill anything in PVP without points in the 'Snakeblood' alchemy passive due to 'Battle Spirit' (argonians, tanks, etc.): It has an initial 8-9k+ health removal (depending on your toon stats), plus about 1,5k-1,7k healh drain per second for almost 48,6s (that's an additional 80k+ health drain). There may be some fringe proc build that may not die, but for the sake of the vast majority of the players experiencing the combat bug in PVP, the potion will do the trick.

Grand Overlord here, with 15 toons, I have a stack in each toon of those potions, used them literally hundreds of times as I said before, and never failed so far (somehow that kind of death is different form the other ones, where sometimes you may still remain in combat).

(And in Cyro has even an additional use: When a flagged keep/outpost takes too long to become not flagged, you can also use it to rez quicker elsewhere, without the hassle or riding away/using a keep recall stone)

Ill have to try then, because previously before the health regen nerf, i couldnt do that on my toon. Thanks for the tip ^^.

I really wish they would just get a clockmaker that understands programming to do the timer xD.

The sheer number of threads about this particular bug alone would seem to indicate that the answer to the title query is a resounding, quite disappointing, surrounded by flashing lights: NO

As I said in another of those aforementioned threads, if I only had a nickel for every ticket I've sent alone...sigh
If it comes with strings, it ain't free. It isn't a gift with purchase; you were overcharged. Companies don't love you; they love money.

I_CraftwithPntButter: 2023 is the year your supposed to be doing better , remember ? (Still waiting for that and it's nearly 2025)

Advice for the future : com·mu·ni·ca·tion (noun)the imparting or exchanging of information or news.

KlauthWarthog: Well, they can definitely measure fun on their spreadsheets, otherwise they would not be able to nerf it so consistently.
