Game Crashes

OutlandishMachine
I'm not sure what's happening, but every time I log in, after about one minute I get an Elder Scrolls Online crash reporter saying that ESO has stopped unexpectedly. There is no error code or anything, and my graphics drivers are all up to date. I haven't found any helpful advice yet, and if anyone else has the same problem but knows a fix please help me.

Yea, i'm having the same problem. I get past the brightness and code of conduct information, then I go to log in and every single time the crash message comes up. Please someone help fix it

    Hey,

You should try running the game as an Administrator as it has shown to resolve this issue for some players.

You can do that by right-clicking the launcher and selecting "Run As Administrator"

ok so here is my issue: initially i logged and played the game for about 4 hours. Then the game crashed. I was running on ultra high setting for my Nvidia gtx 760ti oem graphics card.(i dropped it down after crash but still crashes) after crashing i logged back in and instantly crashed within around 1 to 2 min. I then updated my driver to the most currentl driver. logged... still crashed. then rolled back the driver. uninstalled the whole game and logged again with the original driver which dates to nov 2013. Game now will crash before I can even get to the character location where you click join game. Im not really computer savy and making adjustments to my computer usually causes more harm then good. I have my dx.diag saved to my desktop to help just need a tad bit of help.

I wanted to adjust my display setting in the game under UserSettings File but the folder is not under the USER\my documents? cant locate that?
also tried running as admin - still crashes
adjusted 3d settings(which is tab for my nvidia card) as per what i saw in tech fixes - still crashes

    still crashes - ugh...:(

Is your game generating a "Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\live" folder with some folders and files in it? Specifically is there a UserSettings.txt file?
  • handsofstone
ok - now after the like 12th crash - it now magically appears? I guess because of the last crash was run in a selective start up. So many possible fixes - I read about - not really sure what to do?

@handsofstone Is the UserSettings.txt located in that Live folder?

@zos_RobertM - yes it was - It was in a text/notepad document. I read where I was going to try to set my settings to reflect my native 1080 x 1920
    - last run i changed the setting in the game to this:
    - SET FullscreenHeight "1024"
    SET FullscreenWidth "1280"
which shows exactly what i set it at... before when I have it maxed out it DID show 1080 height and 1920 width...

Ive tried running as adminstrator- crash
    reinstalling - crash
update driver - (after playing 4 hours and had a crash) still crashed - rolled back driver
also ran the game in compatability mode window xp sp2 - crashed
ran the game with a slective start up - - still crashed.(last test)

should i disable my firewall when I download the game?

most of the crashes i get have a error window that pops up for submitting- but my computer craters before I can copy it. I seen multiple refrences to "driver failed"?

@handsofstone I've seen success with redownloading the latest graphics drivers even if that is what you currently have installed.

You should also ensure that you have the latest version of DirectX installed on your PC and you can check that information here

If after that you are still experiencing this crash, you can try editing a line in your UserSettings.txt. That line would be SET GraphicsDriver.7 "D3D11" and you can change "D3D11" to "OpenGL"

i cant - because of the constant crashes my computer has gone into a - reboot loop - i have get with a repair guy to fix this. Which i will have repaired by tonight.
    - the game corrupts my video or video drivers and I have gotten sever failure issues after the crashes - pertaining to my video functionality! I paid for pre use - before release - did not get my money worth on this. I will use this game but trying to work around and messing up my computer is not worth it. i will probably have to wait several weeks or months until the game becomes more stable. Fyi - I have everything updated to the latest software.
    - I have almost become scared to try anything else as im afraid it will harm my computer. Im not computer savy enough to keep crashing my computer and know what to repair when it messes up.

Please see my post at: forums.elderscrollsonline.com/discussion/66734/crash-at-startup#latest
I am having the exact same issue, and the GMs are telling me that I'm either:
A: *** for trying to log in during server maintenance
B: *** for trying to log in during server maintenance

Okay everybody - I found out how to fix it. Find the app for the launcher on your desktop, right-click it and select properties. Now go to "compatibility" and select "Run program in compatibility mode for --" Select your operating system below that. I hope this works for you guys and GL!
