We need more houseguests

It would be great having more generic houseguests npcs like the solitude guard. For me they dont need to be known from the story, it feels more realistic having unknown guards or soldiers protecting or serving in your house than price irnskar. If i could just buy 5x imperial armor wearing soldiers, i would actually do it.

Even better of course when they will eat, drink and sleep someday like in skyrim to have a lifelike feeling. (just running around doesnt really work for me)

What houseguests are you missing?

I disagree. I think the game would be much better with far, far less anything to do with housing. There are plenty of other games that have housing. There is only one game with a combat system like ESO and that should be the focus IMO.

Razum dar... but above all, we need many more houseguest slots.

Would also love the three alliance leaders as houseguests. I saved them plenty of times, so they should drop by for a visit!

I'd really like something like buying 5 generic NPCs, at a price that isn't 5 times the cost of one Lyranth, for example.

Wow that's such a hot take. While you are entitled to your opinion, it is my opinion that your opinion is rubbish due to its baseless nature.

I personally love ESO's combat more so than other MMOs, but the thing that really sells the roleplay aspect of the game for me is its god tier housing system. Players are able to take RP to the next level and fully invest themselves in their characters' stories through housing.

In relation to the OP. I for one would love for the guest slots to be doubled at the very least. I also would love to see some of your ideas implemented one day. Immersion is everything in a role-playing game.

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

Speak for yourself. The game has a strong RP element and they'd be smart to focus on it, that includes housing, which is amazing in ESO, and we should have even more reasons to visit them & things to do. Besides, why does in your mind focusing on one neglect the other? We can have both.

On topic: I want houseguests to be more than just moving around and taking only when talked to etc. Then they can add more.

I love houseguests, they make it feel alot more natural. I personally don't do all that much in my house so to at least have other people in it makes it a little more immersive than just me locking the door behind me and coming back in a month and expecting that my house in the wilds with 6 foot high walls surrounded by enemies will still be there.

There are two ways to have more. More houseguests in each house, and more choice of houseguests.

I would prefer better houseguests. Ones than can do more than just walk and spout monologues. Sitting down, drinking, looking out to sea, fishing, … There already are furnishings the player can interact with for sitting, and I want more types, and I want the houseguests to use them if their path goes there.

    @SaffronCitrusflower

There are plenty of other games that have overland content.
There are plenty of other games that have dungeons or the equivalent.
There are plenty of other games that have trials or the equivalent.
There are plenty of other games that have AvA/WvW/PvP.
There are plenty of other games that have crafting.

If we eliminate everything other games have we can enjoy the combat system.

ESO is a theme park MMORPG. As such it casts a wide net to attract the masses vs being some small niche game. Housing is part of that and it was a wise move for Zenimax to add it.

Would love to have more (preferable nameless) houseguests as well as more slots to place them. Would also be nice if we could order them specific emotes while they are wandering along their path (for example /salute for the guards or /read for the guy sorting the books in the library).

Especially the bigger mansions, as beautiful as they are, feel sometimes quite empty with that few people around.

Overland difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 24 DLCs. 40 game changing updates including One Tamriel, an overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver & Gold as a "you think you do but you don't" - tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game. I'm bored of dungeons, I'm bored of trials; make a personal difficulty slider for overland. It's not that hard.

Instead of adding more house guests for now I'd love to see them expand on the house guest options.
Add something more for them than just wandering node to node.
I'd like to be able to assign them beds, chairs, have them interact with the environment more, assign emotes to them so they can do more than just stand in one spot, etc

I'm not against more house guests, I think the concept is very cool and already adds life to our homes, but it feels like ZoS hasn't quite finished their implementation yet. Like house guests should be able to do more was my thought.

I just wish that the houseguests were a little more like in Skyrim. Your housecarl or spouse would be found cooking, eating, sleeping, sharpening weapons, etc. No need to path, and would interact fully with their environment

Different houseguests for different houses. My High Isle house has a strong Breton theme in it's guests. It isn't exclusively Bretons but it is mostly Breton. My Doomchar chateau has some Daedra and mages milling around. Etc etc.

I want more house guests too, but I disagree with wanting more nameless or unknown ones. I think more of those should be made available to those who prefer them. I would prefer more major and minor quest NPC. People have mentioned Razum Dar and I'd drop money on him. I also really want Fennorian and Revus Demnevanni. I recently picked up Arox and Caska, and I want more of my favorite NPCs to eventually appear. We spend time questing with these characters and bond with them. Why wouldn't they drop in and visit us between their adventures?
