Yes! I'm one of those who pille them up and everytime I regret it. but also everytime I'm doing stacked up survey maps I think to myself... why does it have to be so painful?
The part that you have to mount up and move away so another survey respawn, and then you look at your inventory realising you have to do it 10 more times on the same location... :(
I think its time for you to revisit this and make some changes. also it would be great if you can open a room for survey and master writs in craft bag.

Yeah survey maps are pretty annoying to do especially on console.

But it sure feel Nice when youre done and have those 10.000+ raw mats :)

Edit: Imagine doing them without using google

Imagine doing them without addons that tell you where they are. Don't know how you console players can handle this game without addons.

pcs are much more expensive than playstation and xbox. great that there's addons, but this should be in the base game.

I'd love it, currently slowly working my way through 10,000 surveys.

That said, writs and surveys are already pretty OP.
I've made hundreds of millions off of them
174 characters and counting over 13 accounts.

120 writ certified. 73 at CP rank.

My PC cost 200 an i7 sff on ebay. You can add a 500 gb nvme for 40$ or less. Some cards can be had used for 40$ or less, ie rx 550 2gb low profile card will give 50 fps at 1080p, med setting. For 200$ or more a new low profile Nvidia 1650 will give 99 fps 1080p highish settings. PC ain't so 'spensive 'less you want them 2b.

When you've done them multiple times, you remember where they are.

Pretty much this. The only locations I actually want to use the addons for are Craglorn and wrothgar because I don't remember which location is 1/2/3.

I have thousands on just one character. You can save much of the run around by just collecting locations with 5 or more survey maps. 5 maps often gets you 1k of raw mats. I generally don't need more than that at a time.

I'm still in the process of clearing out my last stockpile and would love if I could just harvest all survey maps at once for a given location.

That being said, I reached my breaking point recently and have decided from here on out to immediately do my surveys after doing the writs on the character that received it. It makes the crafting writ cycle take a little longer overall but I just can't do thousands of them in one go anymore.

I save mine up and find them a pain to do.

The ones where the reset point is a very short distance away, for instance just a walk around a nearby rock, are not too bad. However with some of them the reset seems to be way too far away, for those I now port to a house I don't own and on exiting get ported back to a nicely reset survey.

My load screens are generally very fast so this works for me but for many it might not. I do think that it is about time to take a look at the way it works atm but if I'm honest not sure how to change something that is basically free stuff anyway.

It is after all a game and games have systems that involve a certain amount of grind, whilst we would like everything served up on a plate, we should also accept these systems keep us in game for longer!
    When people say to me........
"You're going to regret that in the morning"

Who would ever have thousands of surveys, just sitting in their inventory?

Khajiit would! They are this one's 401-k(hajiit) plan, for when claws get dull - khajiit plans to become a gardner. This one hopes they never simplify the survey process, or else what shall he do during his golden years?

Just pick two zones every few days and do those. You will stay on top of the map pile that way. And it won't seem like a chore.

And, selling or having those Gold Tempers makes it all worthwhile.

It is the way it is to prevent an exploit as surveys were previously exploited.

Other than saving ourselves from our own choice to horde surveys, I think the only real change would be to have all surveys drop in the last base game alliance zone to the character who earned it has access to. This would narrow the zones used to three and how much space the surveys take up.

Beyond that, do not horde as much before doing them. I say that as one who hordes them and knows I caused the issue much as OP has admitted for themselves.

What am I paying hirelings for?!

Though to be honest, the reason why I have hundreds of enchanter surveys is because they just don't deliver - one kuta from a survey if you are lucky, and if you aren't levelling a toon the rest is just trash.

And the Craglorn ones used to always give you nirncrux... not so much any more:(

I use stockpile them and do them in one hit, now I only do enough every now and then to keep my characters supplied with mats for daily writs.

Worst case I store them in one of my alts inventory's and they are out the way until I need them.
