Update 44 is now available for testing on the PTS! You can read the latest patch notes here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/categories/pts

Forum no longer accessible to unregistered visitors - bad decision (or bug?) please revert.

This morning I noticed from any of my devices, with any browser, I cannot visit the ESO forum pages if I don't login first. This was not the case until now.

I use to share links to forum posts to people which are not registered and maybe not even players just so I can build their interest, maybe with some wholesome gameplay stories the community have. It seems now I won't be able to share them anymore.

To me this sounds like a silly and bad move I would really appreciate if it gets reverted.

What's your opinion on this?
Also, am I the only one experiencing this?

@ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_GinaBruno having some insight on if it's an official decision would be appreciated, thanks...!

Noticed the same, really annoying. As I usually check the forums without logging in first.

The previous time this happened it was a bug, so I'm guessing this time it's the same bug.

@Sarannah thanks for the info, at least it's not "a me problem".

I really hope it's just a bug that will get fixed soon enough...

Imagine new players visiting the forum to learn more about the game before buying it. [snip]

It could possibly be an issue on Vanilla's (the forum service provider) end.

It's likely to be the same Vanilla forum bug that occurred a few weeks ago. It was soon fixed, but happening on a Sunday may mean it takes a bit longer this time.

I could see the forum before registering last night. It must be just happening since I went to bed.

If ZOS is privatizing the forums it's a REALLY, REALLY bad omen. It makes it seems as though they are trying to keep the general public and members who have been banned from being able to access information and help regarding ESO.

If the forum does end up being permanently privatized then I sincerely hope someone else sets up an ESO forum that anyone can sign up for and access at any time, with or without a game code and an invitation.

It's a Vanilla software bug, I did ping Kevin about it when discussing something else. Hope they can get it fixed before long.

Rather than getting over-excited about this, can people please note that this exact issue arose a few weeks ago and it was quickly resolved. Community and Forum Managers have been alerted, but it is Sunday and nothing is likely to resolved before the new working week.

The answer was in edited part of my post. I don't think it makes sense to rewrite it. The meaning of my post is ruined by these unnecessary edits. There was no bashing, biting, whatever at all.

It's Sunday and a holiday in the U.S. (Mother's Day), so may be delayed on a fix.

Even if ZOS fixes this forum bug I will always feel the ESO community would greatly benefit from a forum dedicated to ESO that is not managed by ZOS.
