Stop chat window from auto minimizing

I have noticed when I do certain things, such as entering decorator mode in my house, it auto minimizes the chat window. Is there a way to stop this from happening? I've looked for a toggle but haven't found anything.

    Greetings,

After review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic (Players Helping Players, as OP is requesting advice regarding potential ways to resolve their non-technical issue with the UI).

    Thank you for your understanding.

There is no auto-toggle, but if this is on PC, you can drag your mouse pointer to the edge of the screen and click the chat icon to manually pull it up or roll it down again.

I do use the triangle to open the chat window again, but it's annoying that so many activities just automatically close this, especially if I am chatting with a friend at the time.

i think this was a function in pchat, the only place i know of that is still buggy with this addon though is when you open the crown store (it wont visibly show any of the chat and still auto hides the chat window)

i do notice that the chat window is minimized when i go into a tribute match, but i can still re-open it fine and it will stay open after that

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

I've never used pchat or any other of this type of add-on. But so many things auto minimize the chat window, such as ToT, and decorating a house, and putting things for sale on a trader, and I believe using a crafting table and opening a merchant do, too. I'll make a list when I'm playing today of all the activities I find that do this.

I'd just love a toggle to never auto minimize the chat window.

yeah i think by default the chat is minimized almost every time you go into a menu or enter into a dialog with an NPC

im pretty sure its pchat that has options for preventing the chat window from minimizing in most cases, and preventing the text from fading, as well as letting you move the chat window anywhere on the screen, or resizing it past its normal limits, as noted i dont think it works 100% of the time such as with tribute it still gets minimized, but you can re-open it no problem (the fastest way to open the chat without typing or using the mouse is just hitting enter key twice, enter starts chat which opens it and then enter again takes focus out of the text input but will leave the chat window open)

it can do other functions too like always show players as a user ID, or character name, or both (i find it makes more sense to see user IDs in guild chat, but character names in group chat or zone chat)

i would like your suggestion though of just adding to the base game to have an option to never minimize the chat so it works consistently lol
