the learning curve on this game's jump mechanics is, imo, the worst. why can i kill giants and demi gods but i can't seem to jump over a 2 foot wall. wth ZOS?
this isn't funny or fun.
You've had nature explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the living body explained to you and you're bored with it, you've had the universe explained to you and you're bored with it, so now you want cheap thrills and, like, plenty of them....

Are you complaining you can't find the button to jump? Or that you can't jump high enough?

Can't jump over a 2 ft wall, but can fall down 50 ft hugging a cliff and take no damage.

Not the OP, but some legit answers.
The tiny size of obstacles that require jumping to clear (when irl you'd just step over them is annoying.)
The difficulty of maintaining/achieving a small amount of horizontal momentum is often infuriating, when you end up just jumping purely vertically repeatedly and not getting over your obstacle.

I did not and still do not find the space key (the default keybind for jump on keyboard) intuitive. It took me literally days to find out I could jump and that was only because I saw other people jumping, realized it must be a thing, opened my controls, read my keybinds, found the one for jump and CHANGED IT.

Barring invisible walls to keep you out of locked areas, most low barriers can be jumped, so I am wondering if OP simply doesn't know the controls to jump.

I still have the old Morrowind jumping twitch - you learnt early on that jumping increased your acrobatics and so kept up a rhythmic tapping on the space bar when running around.

There is an issue in ESO that while you can run and jump, and yes, fight giants, there ae many small stones, usually hidden in an innocuous tuft of grass, that are seemingly insurmountable. The one that always gets me is the step up onto the platform where the jesters quest is in Glenumbra. It looks like a step that are usually taken automatically, but it isn't.

Fantastic name, but too flamboyant... jail for 15 years (out in 10 for good behaviour).

There's also a thing where if you try to jump something that you're right next to, you jump at a lower height than if you were standing a little away from it.

Isn’t it just the space bar ? It’s the same as morrowind or Skyrim or oblivion ? Or is this a controller problem ? I don’t play with a controller so never had any issues knowing where the jump key is.

The jumping is WEIRDLY low, even in real life terms. That said, so many environments will have been built around that that I can't see them changing it now, alas.

Jumping with movement has always been wonky to me. I will frequently go vertical when I use W and Space or go forward without jumping. Also the bane of my existence is coming up out of the basement of Ebonheart Chateau where there is one step that stops me dead about three quarters up from the bottom. I then try to jump and we are back to the wonky jump and movement keys.

The biggest problem with jumping in this game is that you lose your momentum most of the time. You can run at nearly the speed of light but the second you jump you slow down to extreme slowmotion for no reason at all. That's extremely annoying even though it might work correctly sometimes but mostly not.

It's especially bizarre if you contrast jumping on foot to jumping on mount, where a small slant to ground and a jump can leave you on your mount soaring incredibly high into the air. This happens all the time in Wayrest riding around the town.

Yeah i just love it when im taking a run up to jump over a creek on my mount and instead jump straight up and land in the creek. 😆

    Jump, jump
The space bar will make ya Jump Jump
Zenimax will make ya Jump Jump
Kris Kross will make ya Jump Jump
    uh huh uh huh

No but I really do wish we could jump just a little higher or if it was easier to navigate some the bumpier terrain.

I'm not sure the youngins will get this reference but 20 points to Gryffindor for an excellent comment!

This game's physics engine allows a younger audience to experience game mechanics from the 1990s, so there's a silver lining I guess?
