Pain point for returning veteran player

User context

- Got around 2000 hours of ESO play time.
- Stopped for a break a couple of years ago.
- Want to return to the game because Necrom looks fun, and new class is the main draw.

User problem

Even though I'd like to start subscribing and playing immediately, and there are plenty of contents for me to enjoy between now and the new launch, I'm constrained from subscribing and playing because (after launch) the game doesn't offer any services that would allow me to experience a new class with existing characters, or to transfer content-progression to a different character.

User need

It would be great if there was a method for veteran players to experience and play a new class without loosing the bond and progress of established characters.

It's not a critical issue, and has probably been raised before, but this pain point in lack of user-control was something I felt while I was a player, previously, and is experiencing again as a returning player, so just wanted to voice it -- thanks.

You will already have all your champion points and other characters' achievements on your level 1 Arcanist post-launch, all that will be missing is the other 49 base levels. You can either head to e.g. a dolmen or dungeon etc and gain those in a matter of hours or you can enjoy the content you haven't yet seen and level up as you do so. There will also be a variety of guild levels/skills and skyshards/skill points from your other characters that you can buy in the crown store for the new character if you really want to.

The argument for class change tokens has never been weaker, especially since last year's switch to account-wide achievements.

Yes, you can buy accelerators and skyshards, but considering you are already paying for a new chapter the costs mount very quickly.

It's for precisely this reason that a lot of people wanted a new weapon or skill line available to all current characters instead of a new class, which inevitably involves a lot of levelling/spending.

It would be interesting to see how many people paid for upgrades when the other new classes came out, only to toss aside their wardens and necros when the nerf hammer hits a few months after the new chapter is launched...

Or they could do something radical like play the game normally instead of sitting on locations farming XP, spoiling it for others.

Absolutely, as I have indicated where bolded.

    Here we go again..

Short version: No, you're not going to get a class change.
Long version: Use forum search for "class change when" and "class change token".

    The end.

Not sure how this is "spoiling it for others". This is an MMO, and farming/grinding has always been a major component of that. Furthermore, people paid for the game and many pay for subs, they have every right to play how they want in an MMO.

Personally, every new character I grind to level 30 doing dolmen runs, then do MSQ for awhile to gain more skill points and XP, then usually about level 40 I return to the dolmens to level to 50 and then continue leveling all skill lines. I will be doing the same with my new Arcanist character as well. :p

P.S. Dolmen runs are also the fastest way to level Fighters Guild skill line.

Nope, they're not. Actually they are pretty bad. Go and try out Skyreach Caverns in Craglorn, just wipe the first floor, reset and repeat.
