ESO was the first MMO I played (and so far the only one!) I had up until then, mostly played single-player games, because of bad experiences with multiplayer games, but I found that for the most part the ESO community has been open and welcoming

ESO also changed my life drastically, as I was contacted by another player last year, which caused me to fall in love and move in with them (in another country!) earlier this year, so thanks to ESO I have headaches over language courses and other things that happen when you move countries/in with someone
but, I'm very happy, about it and I wouldn't change it for anything. Life hasn't been this great since 2004

The set & setting, the characters, the art style, the narratives, and most of all the community.

I'm hugely grateful for what ZOS and its partners have created here, and the game will live rent free in my heart for a long time.

I found ESO during my Chemotherapy treatments. This game helped save me. It's characters I've made gave me years of comraderie and memories, I hold my girls dearly.
I hope you are feeling better. Cancer sucks I just lost my grandma to cancer this past month. I wish you well.

You say saved so I hope things are well for you! Congratulations

I'll be 8 years Cancer Free this September, as well as 8 years an ESO player this August. :) Time does fly, huh. I also really gotta redo my character portrait with all their current outfits.

🎈 Congratulations! I happy you found eso in your darkest hour! I wish many wonderful years of eso. There's so much do here afterall

ESO helped bring me together with my girlfriend.

We didn't literally meet in-game, but questing together while chatting on Discord helped make us closer to the point where we admitted to being more than friends. :)

Emphasis on player choice and highly theorycraftable.

Also waaaay more effort into making the entire game world interesting than any other MMO I've played, which is incredible considering the size of the world and sheer volume of content.

For me it's the world building and the community. The community in particular keeps the game fresh and fun for me even in times that I want to stop playing like U35. My guild members make me want to log on every night and find a dungeon or trial to run with them and I look forward to the next time we can team up.

The world feels meaningful outside of dungeons/trials including the oldest content. There are numerous reasons to adventure all around Tamriel and not all of them demand combat or grinding. This makes for a diverse experience for me where every few days/weeks my routine changes depending on my mood (and resources). It makes the world feel alive. <3

ESO got me through some hard times in my life, and through it, I've met many wonderful people and made amazing friendships. And though my main has race-swapped between Argonian and Khajiit a few times, she had me fall in love with the Khajiit. The game isn't perfect and will always have its faults, but it still is so important to me despite all that.

For me to be able make your own story or journey makes eso special. Like any race, any class, can play any role not just one class

Role-playing and the people I met in the RP guild I created. Some of these are now great friends outside the game and we have so many memories and fondness over shared storytelling.

Also have been inspired to write over 100 pages of stories from my characters and the guild which is a volume no mmo created for me.

Hey, that's great! I've not got into fanfic in ESO - because I guess I blew my fanfic imagination on the books I wrote for characters/families in Skyrim.....

I've been a fan of the Elder Scrolls series since Oblivion. So, that's a big factor. Another factor is that it's got a little of everything. The only thing I don't like about ESO is the pvp, so I play a different game when I want to PvP. All the other types of activities I like to do is represented in this game and done well. I feel like decorating or feel artistic, housing is great. I feel like some walking sim, casual story enjoyment? The quests in this game are top notch. I feel like taking on a challenging PvE experience? I'll solo a dungeon or arena, or I'll join for vet group content. I just feel like exploring and taking pictures? I pick a direction and just run around admiring the sights. This game has truly mesmerizing variety of visuals. I feel like playing a card game, doing some dungeon looting, or coming up with all sorts of different clothes? Well, at this point you get the idea.

When it comes to games, ESO is everything.

You should share some stories here. There's a section for it

    that's all

    To be honest.
If this game WASN'T set in the Elder Scrolls universe/theme.
I wouldn't still be playing it.
