How many furnishing slots would you trade for that?

Problem is this - current house companion is just one model (body and clothing). If you want real companion with unique outfit - then it will be much, much more information to load so this not gonna happen.

I'd like for the ones we purchase with Crowns at least to come with an additional, casual outfit if they wear full armor and shields on their back as a default. They become very limited in use in my opinion when they're always geared up for war.

(So I am not a software dev - full disclosure)

Yeah but man, they can have 20-30 players with their followers render at the Jokers fest quest givers - you gotta be pulling my leg to tell me that 1 companion --> houseguest being rendered in the home is going to be much of a technical challenge?

I think that it's nice that they have clothes they pick out and clothes we pick out. When they are acting as a house guest, they wear what they want. When they are adventuring with us, they wear whatever is asked. So, it's somewhat nice in an RP sense.

That said, I wouldn't mind being able to change their clothes too.

I like that they have default outfits, but like even more that we can change them. I also wish we could outfit any house guest we buy and change their default attire while in our homes to better fit the scene we are trying to create.

Being able to customize at home also could let us tell our own stories about how the companions changed due to travelling with us and going on all these adventures, and attire is one way we can show character progression the game itself lacks since the companions just freeze in time narratively after their brief intro storylines.

(Of course, for some it's probably just wanting to put Mirri and Isobel in the new Almalexia outfit lol)

Make it come at the expense of visitor slots if you have to, I think many would take that exchange.

10 more bytes I say, 80 bytes with colors.
And it don't need to be an real data structure unless your the owner and want to edit just an xml file.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
