Mage and DPS

I play with my wife and kids, sounds fun but omg it can be frustrating.

That being said my wife plays a Mage with a lightning staff and wants to do harder content. Game mechanics aside dps is an issue. I am by no means great at dps but i am trying to get better but having to figure it out for two chars is a pain.

I have crafted her sets in the past but wondering if there are sets that we can farm together that are decent for her.
I looked up mothers sorrow from other threads and was going to start there but just wanted to know what some other options might be, or if that is even still a good option.

thank you in advance.

You may want to give a tad more information about which classes you are playing.

Mother's sorrow and orders wrath could be an easy option. If she's doing lightning because heavy attacks it could lead into pretty powerful Oaken setup which is still running, but no guarantee it won't be touched next patch. This would mean two sets and a mythic to farm but for dungeons it's well worth the effort, probably best setup for it currently, especially as a beginner dps difference with standard setup is incomparable.

Mother's Sorrow is indeed a fine set for mages - and pretty straightforward to farm in Bangkorai. Doing dolmens is a good way to get the jewelry.

Another nice mage set is Law of Julianos. It is a crafted set. https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Law_of_Julianos

    Greetings,

After further review we have decided to move this thread to a category we think is more appropriate for this topic.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Sorry, just looked.

she is playing a destruction sorcerer (breton) with 64 in magic

I am trying to get her used to farming for gear rather than crafting as i have always crafted for her. she already has a few parts for mothers sorrow. focusing in this game she finds hard with all the side quests though.

she is having fun which is great but wants to do harder content.

    thanks again!!

If she wants to do a harder content than she will have to dip her toes in grinding for gear. Someone here already mentioned heavy attack oakensoul setup which atm is the best setup in the game when it comes to damage to easiness of use ratio. The grind for it is also not that long compared to many other setups.

You can also buy mother's sorrow set from guild traders, its easier than farming it.

You mixed up Bangorkai and Deshaan.

Better, there's an infused Mother's Sorrow lightning staff with a name like Argonian Muckminder that is handed out reliably as an easy quest reward.

As for heavy attack builds -- right now Sergeant's Mail is strong, and easy to farm in Wayrest Sewers. You can pair that with Mother's Sorrow or a crafted set if you don't get lucky on a lightning staff drop from a pure heavy attack set.

TBF a really good craftable set is Order's Wrath. I'm not that into sorcs so I don't know what to do with a non-HA build if you decide to go that way.
    110-114k Stage 4 Vamprie Magblade u39
Aldmeri Dominion did nothing wrong in Shadowfen.

Thanks for the catch. My brain was thinking Spriggans instead of MS when Bangkorai came to mind. :)

If you want to clear harder contents without sink whole lot time into parsing, just play supports.

If you are actually talented and you parse 80k+ with junk gear, then ignore what i said.

That's bad advice. Support roles need to have farmed massive amounts of gear and know all the mechs well. Assuming by harder content you mean vet trials and dlc dungeons. Tank is by far the hardest role in vet content. Healer role can also be more demanding in vet dlc trials, especially HMs. If someone cant parse 60k, which is about the minimum by most guilds to get into vet trials, then they should definitely stay away from support roles.

Really appreciate the help so far.

when i say harder content I am referring to simply doing DLC content which i was shocked can be so difficult. and the older vet zones.

its just a family group and we are starting with the old vet stuff which has been fun.
When we went to some of the newer dlc's we couldnt make it past the first boss.

its a slow process but we are having fun.
