As someone new to MMO's, I curious about how a guild bank is supposed to function? Is it a community storage of materials that works on an honor system? The assumption being that users put in as much as they take out? Are there ways to deal with people who abuse it?

Based on the storage capacity of Character and Character's bank, I had begun to leave an aweful lot on the table, so to speak, when looting. I wasn't enchanting so i didn't bother with runes, as an example. Is the idea here for all of us to loot everything and drop the excess into guild storage for ourselves and others to use on their chosen professions?

The guild banks will likely function differently depending on which guild you are in, and which guild rank you carry. In Artisan's Alliance, we are a guild of equals. As such, I have created two ranks, Artisan and Apprentice, that every member falls into. The ranks are identical with the exception of name only. I did this simply to help keep track of new members.

Since they are identical, all members are able to deposit and withdraw from the guild bank without restriction. This system is designed to allow the greatest amount of trade skill progression possible as a group. I am not concerned about any one person taking so much from the bank. There are limits as to how much one person can carry anyway. Beyond that, the bank is there to help each other. If ten of us deposit five items each, and one member runs up and takes all 50 items, then we can rest assured that we greatly assisted that one person. Do not be deluded into thinking there are any checks and balances in place. If you place an item in the bank, it WILL be taken by someone else. If you are curious, you can certainly take a look at the bank log to see who.

If you see items in the bank you can use to better your craft, take them. If you find items in your personal stash that are of no use to you, feel free to contribute to help others. Remember, it's not stealing if it's free to begin with.

Lastly, I want to thank everyone for your enthusiasm! We have enough members for a guild store, though I haven't had a chance to use it just yet. We surpassed our goal of 50 members by a long shot last evening, and I see no reason to slow down! The more artisans we get, the more we profit from our crafts. Thanks everyone, not only for joining, but for creating what is already proving to be an effective method of community growth.

Thanks for such a quick reply, you answered all my questions. After reading how inspiration works when deconstructing items made by self vs. others, a guild bank would be a great way to exchange Lv6 Daggers or whatever. Put 10 in take 10 out, rinse repeat.
