Ok, it's been a while since account wide achievements went live, so everyone has more or less settled in with this reality. So I'm curious, had this actually changed the way you play? If so, how?

It hasn't change much for me because I almost never used achievements as a way to track what my characters had done in the first place.

At first it seemed like a problem that world bosses are marked as complete even if that character hasn't fought them before, but I've realised I was only actually doing them all on every character because otherwise it would be marked on the map as incomplete. I don't necessarily want to do it, so now I decide on a case-by-case basis, if I'm passing and I want to fight that boss on that character (whether they've done it before or not) I will, if not I skip it.

Otherwise I'm doing things the same way I was before, working my way across/around each map and then using the Quest Map addon to make sure I didn't miss anything when I think I'm finished. Other things like learning specific skill lines on a character I'll do if I want them to know the skill. I never expected any of my characters to have all the achievements or worried about them doing everything required for them so it hasn't changed anything there.

Both my two original accounts abandoned, including subs, and a new account opened as soon as AwA was announced and it was clear that ZOS weren't engaging with us over it. This was so that with the new account on one server I could run a single character and on the other I could run a new roster of characters designed from the outset either to share achievements or be the only one doing specific things such as fishing (unlike the 60 or so original characters who had all done various things specific to them such as being lawful good, for example, as well as all working separately on their own achievements).

While I have found I can still enjoy the game this way, I still hate both AwA and the way it was introduced, but I am of course saving money as ZOS are only getting one sub instead of two as well as reduced additional purchases.

i marked "no it didnt change the way i play" because i was already sort of treating achievements as account wide, i would earn them on whichever character made sense to earn it and would never try to complete it on another character because i already had it complete

the account wide achievements did overall help the way i play by combining progress, so it really helped things like the slayer achievements or anything that required multiple actions (completing say 2 dungeons on vet to earn achievement, i had several cases where i had one dungeon of the requirement completed on 1 toon and one dungeon completed on another toon, and it was dumb it couldnt count as me having done both dungeons because it wasnt done on the same toon)

so while it didnt really change much how i play, it certainly made things a lot better for me lol

The only reason I haven't changed the way I play is because of an addon called Character Zone Tracker that allows us to track map completion per character. It works very well so I'm not sure why more players aren't using it.

Unfortunately the author of the addon is no longer playing so it would be great if someone would take over and maintain it.

When clearing the map with alts, I no longer go out of my way to fight world bosses or dolmens. I’m content to just discover the location and move on to the next map marker. But I won’t wait around for the respawn if the location is already marked as complete.

Since I’m on PC, add-ons that show quests and skyshards are how I determine if I’ve been in a delve or not.

I have 18 toons, 4 are mules, and I played the other 14 at least weekly depending on what I was doing or sometimes to play casually and complete quests I hadn't done on those toons yet. Now I only play 3 toons. No reason to play anymore than the three roles now.

No, I'm playing the same was as pre AWA
I'm still playing mostly the same. Ultimately, my rhythm is to create a toon, do skyshards and whatever else nets me skill points, and run dungeons. Really the only that thing that's changed is I won't go kill every boss in every delve/public dungeon again. I feel like outfit slots had more impact in my desire for alts than AWA ever did.

The biggest drawback I’ve seen is skyshard hints are broken for me in High Isle and Galen. I don’t know if it’s directly related to AwA, or just those zones. But when I completed a zone’s skyshards on my main, the hints are all checked out on my alts. It makes doing skyshards way harder than it needs to be. I have been asking @ZOS_Kevin to update the thread on it for months, and he can’t for whatever reason.

While I might be selective about which character gets an achievement, it hasn't impacted my play much. The one AwA that hurt though was for Antiquities. Each character getting the early achievements helped level it up faster. The last couple characters I maxed out on Antiquities were brutal, and I still have more to go.

Had one effect, suddenly most of the trophy hunts was done and I only needed 8 something. to complete as all the one from various alts got merged and I started doing the lasts.

Else is has minimal impact, does achievements mostly for rewards like dye colors and it don't matter who alt does it.

Not a fan of it. As a console player, it just messes up any new characters. Multiple new characters have all delves and world bosses completed in every zone despite not even having discovered their locations. Makes keeping track of individual progress a nightmare. I'm grateful they left a few "character achievements" as public dungeon group events are a to-go skill point farm for me.

Weirdly, AwA has killed my sense of achievement.

It had some minor impacts, specifically when it comes to titles. I had to do the event writs on another character to get the "Witch" title on the right character. I won't have to do something like that again. I understand that this change was implemented poorly and should have been done with more care, but to me personally it was a good change at the end of the day. Your mileage may vary.

Or they should have just copied World of Warcraft. There they have account wide achievements, but you still have a separate log of what achievements each individual character got or hasn't gotten. So you can earn achievements again and link them as such. It's a more elegant system and it's not even new, so it's kind of strange that ZOS didn't make it that way.

This has not changed my playstyle much, the only difference now is that when I encounter a dolmen or delve I wait for the spawn to complete them right away. So I know I completed them when I discovered them. Only when I really don't feel like waiting I skip these.

The only thing that AwA changed for me, is I skip difficult world bosses and I no longer wait for public dungeon bosses to spawn.

So overall not much of a difference with or without AwA.

The only thing I am curious about (related to the how many accounts players have topic), is if ZOS is considering many more character slots per account. Afterall, multiple accounts each with their own AwA would in my imagination take more database space than one account with one AwA but with more toons. The only thing that might make a difference is the multiple characterloading in the characterselectionscreen maybe not being possible with many more characters on one account(splitloading possibility?). Keep in mind some players have 10+ accounts, this is 10+ AwA's to store in the database. Versus one AwA for a single account.

PS: Though AwA does look weird in the zoneguide, if we have never been to a zone but have completed some of its objectives already.

For me, achievements are a measure of how far you can progress with a character. I don't see any point in creating a new character and having caves, dolmens, world bosses completed with a newly created character. However, the motifs, furniture blueprints, and mount upgrades are separated by character. The exploration and identity of each character, the recovery of a certain achievement in a new character, is gone. The replayability has been negatively affected, for me

Agree that would been an better way, note that character achievements is still quests done, skyshards collected and wayshrines unlocked.
I guess some of the achievements like kill x generated lots of updates to database but none care about these achievements.
