I've been afraid of 4k resolution (which is a 4x increase compared to 1080p), thinking that i would need a flagship GPU to use it. Eventually i got a 4k monitor, and to my surprise, all games i had were running flawlessly on it in 60 fps, on a budget GPU. No ray tracing, no latest shooters and no high frame rates, but if i play a strategy/rpg game in 4K resolution on high or maxed settings and 60 fps, everything works fine. In ESO, on a 4k monitor, i can max settings and play at 60 fps.
My GPU is AMD RX 6650 XT, which by power is similar to = RX 6600 XT = RTX 3060 = RTX 2070 = GTX 1080 = RX 5700, which currently are bottom tier gaming GPUs.
Just an example of ESO on a 4k screen:

Much more space on screen, and a bigger screen, compared to 21-24" 1080p screen.
I did some edits in ESO configuration file.
1. Turned off tone_map - i just dont see any difference when its on/off.
2. SoftwareOcclusionCulling set to enabled (probably adds a plenty of fps, which i dont see due to fps limit, so it just chills my GPU).
3. Multithreaded rendering is enabled.
Increasing resolution only slightly increases CPU usage (due to more objects in the view angle).
