New PVP Achievements Are Shocking

These new achievements are really shocking. I've got 18 characters, all EP, and effectively am now excluded from being able to get these achievements.

I have 18 characters will crafting maxed out, traits researched, mounts levelled so deleting one or two is a massive amount or re-work.

Or alternatively I can pay IRL money and get an alliance change from the crown store just to go and get these which is really poor.

There are no other achievements in the game restricted like this and it just screams as a way to get people to pay for something from the crown store.

Can we get some update on why these were added so long post launch when a lot of people will be in a similar position to myself? @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_Kevin

wow, i just saw that. i play ad exclusively, although i have characters of other factions. but none that i play in cyro. seems weird, like what if you only play one side? that would nullify 2 of those achievements. or in your case, you have 18 ep chars? it's not a good achievement, imo. these achievements should be achievable regardless of what faction you play

Been confirmed by the devs Necrom will have an extra 2 available char spaces totalling 20.
So I guess there is that, and of course you are going to want at least 1 of them for an arcanist, so you are kind of pigeon holed.

My PvP guild has an rule that you are not allowed to be in Cyrodil on other factions during guild runs.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

It was my first thought when a guildie linked the new achievements, I only play with characters from one Alliance, thank god I'm not a completionist.

It really sucks for those who are! 😯

I have no issue with this, I alliance changed all my characters to EP and have no intention to bringing "glory to the Daggerfall Covenant or Aldmeri Dominion."

I, however, am not a completionist. This doesn't appear to negatively impact anyone's style of gameplay though, and the idea of faction pride should be considered here.

Those achievements give even more reason to use the unlocked campaigns. They're already used to swap emperor achievement and farm AP, now they can be used to cheese these achievements.

yeah the only ''good'' option I can think of is to use these to slots to grind the achievements on AD/DC and then delete those characters later

Yeah I find that annoying as well, 18 characters, all maxxed out, ALL DC...it is annoying that I will have to either pay for three faction changes, to get the two and ten change back to DC.

Or make both my Arcanists AD and EP and do it with them...which doesn't sound fun either.

These certainly scream hoops for the sake of hoops to me. Having to repeat the same thing on all three alliances is not actually new content. It's just doing the same thing three times over, which for many will require spending extra time (to raise new characters for this purpose or to raise gold for crowns for alliance changes) or money (to pay for alliance changes directly). And the addition of character slots, only one of which will be free, does not address the concerns of players who (by personal choice or because of guild requirements) do not want to join other alliances, especially not just to repeat the same thing again and again.

Unfortunately it contributes to the impression that the identity elements of this "online RPG" seem to be increasingly sacrificed for MMO-like genericism, even when Matt Firor has long rejected that label. (See also account-wide achievements, and of course the devs' recent statement that they "intentionally" stripped classes of their unique buffs after explicitly stating they wanted to keep those just last year.)

But it’s for face markings for an Alliance — if you are loyal to one Alliance, then why would you want the other face markings? If there is no title or dye locked behind getting all three, then I don’t see the problem.

I understand this isn’t an impact to everyone or even the majority of people but it’s an unnecessary and unprecedented change that annoys me.

My issue with this is the timing and randomness more than anything. As well as this fundamentally locking people out of progress to achievements in a way that’s not been done up until now with options to resolve it being deleting and restarting or paying money.

Having this as an achievement at launch I could almost understand. Even though Faction pride etc was much more prevalent then, it was something you could be aware of and decide to work towards. Right now I’ve got no options but to buy more crowns to either change my existing characters or a new slot when the new chapter comes.

That’s so poor considering how much already gets pumped into the game for subs and chapters every year.

Hmmm... Interesting. Well, time to show I only care about the Covenant, but for completionists that went all in on one faction that's gotta suck.

I enjoy working towards trying to complete achievements, I have no loyalty to an alliance and couldn’t care less about the face markings really.

The issue is the position I’m stuck in know is to achieve these I need to delete and restart or pay real money. I’m not sure how that can be viewed as acceptable to anyone who plays the game tbh.

PVP is one of the main aspects which doesn’t have account bound achievements which makes sense, however everything is obtainable to everyone if they choose to go for it. Bringing this in locks some people out of it without taking the actions above and zos will be aware of this hence the frustration of adding something new and creation issues for players.

If you’re getting Necrom, you can use the additional character slot included to make an AD character just for the achievements, delete and repeat for DC. No need to pay anything extra! :)

Who wants alliance tattoos? Struggling to see where that was even relevant to any of my points I’ve raised.

Name another achievement in the game that has been implemented 9 years after launch which is impacted and restricts people by decisions they’ve made years ago and leaves them needing to pay money or delete characters to achieve them.

Because why else would completing the achievement matter? Nothing else is locked behind it as far as I can see. Naturally most of us assume that you are frustrated at potentially be locked out of some reward or why else the objection?

The title states the achievements, none of my posts ever mention caring about the cosmetics. I like to play as a completionist and go to complete all the achievements ultimately, collect all motifs, item sets and recipes and furnishing plans.

I’ve gained loads of skins, titles, cosmetics and use almost none of them.

Your other point in creating and deleting is probably the best option but putting the solution onto the players to create, level and play alts. Get mount speed as well since pvp without is pretty poor then deleting to do again is still poor.

They shouldn’t be creating these conflicts regardless. It’s unnecessary and still driven in part by expecting people to just pay money to sort for themselves.

Meh, I can live without any of those, or any other, Achievements. I mean, it's cool whenever a message pops up saying I just earned an Achievement, but there are a lot of Achievements I'll probably never be able to earn, and have very little interest in trying to earn because of the activities involved, so I gave up caring about Achievements a long, long time ago.

Some of us do care and consider it the only/one of those things that actually matters/valuable in this game for various reasons, so it's absolutely valid feedback for the future devs consideration even knowing this concrete one not changing.

More to that there are people willing to get all achievements on one concrete character adding to the pain.

i only made AD toons out of habit (because back in 2014, factions mattered in pve and i didnt want to be restricted from playing with friends)

going forward i might end up making 2 other characters, 1 as each of those factions, just to be able to make progress on these achievements (or just buy a faction change token for my main pvp toon, or not even bother though i am a completionist so im sure ill end up getting them at some point somehow lol)

Hi, all my characters are EP, how you doing.

Do they even realize how long this is going to take people, the defeat 1,500 players alone, for those who aren't particularly good/powerful in PvP? Takes me a good hour or two to complete that Defeat 40 daily quest and that's during prime time in zerg fights where I have allies to soften up and draw attention.

That is one of those achievements that had it been in the game since launch, nobody would have complained. Adding it now, yeah, I get some of the outrage. I am not someone that cares about every last achievement point, but I am also not sure that every possible achievement point should necessarily have to be earnable by one character/playthrough.

And as cynical as I am about ZOS motives, I really dont see this as a cash grab. Don't get me wrong, there are people that will absolutely swap alliances on their main to do this, but I am guessing that's not a lot of people. Also, most people dont have 18 toons in the same alliance. Using/rolling an alt to knock these out is not terribly taxing. I feel like one good MYM would get that done. LOL

What's more frustrating is that ZOS probably thinks this amounts to new PVP content. It does not...

Completely overlooked that kill 1500 bit. 4500 total kills for all 3 achievements. I have 37K kills on my account and I have been pvping since 2017. So 6 years now, for 37K kills will mean around 8+ months to get the achievement, assuming I pvp consistently enough for it.

That is a long grind, especially a long grind on alternate characters.
