Stupid question about Champion Points

I think I see the issue, I think.

Assigning a CP point on character “A” does NOT take away that point from character “B”.

Let’s say you are on a level 50 DK and earn 10 champion points. And you assign those points.

Logging on to your NB you will have 10 CP to assign, your DK did not use them up just for that character. You can assign 10 new CP to your NB just fine.

Logging on to your sorc, again you will have 10 CP to assign. Etc.

The points you earn are awarded to all your characters. It’s not a “pool” per se. Earning a champion point awards that point to ALL of your characters individually. It’s not a currency that can be only used on one character.

I think the best way to deal with it is don't think of CP as levels gained. 1-50 is the only growth where you gain stats, skill points, and unlocking gear requirements,. Treat CP as an after bonus and you already past the most important threshold which is 160 CP. I'm at 2079 CP and really no desire to get any higher, I got everything I could want for each individual character, the only reason I could want more CP is if I made a character do everything rolled into one: Crafter, Tank, Healer, Stam DPS, Mag DPS; that would be insane though.

You are also in no danger of reaching 3600 (the current effective cap) just by doing all the story quests on 18 characters. It requires a lot more xp than that.

You won't reach 3600 CP fast, even if it seems to go very fast at first. The first 800 or so CP are really fast, after that it is going to take years to reach CP 2000. Longer to go even higher. Every CP you gain, the more exp will be needed to reach the next CP level. (mouseover the CP level progress bar at the top left to see the needed exp)

Not sure, but I think only a handful of players have ever reached CP 3600. And that is after playing for years and years.

I can pretty much guarantee that won't happen. I play every day and I've done every quest in every zone on 4 characters so far, working on the 5th now, and I'm still only 1800+ CP.

I am a completionist too and I like my characters to be "equal" so I understand. But you don't have to worry that you will hit 3600 too fast.

I'm also not too sure what the question or concern is here but I will say that once your characters reach level 50 the problem becomes skill points not XP. Every character when they reach 50 become the same CP as your highest CP character but they won't share the same number of skill points.

You have to do all the dungeons, all the quests, all the skyshards etc. on each character. You can skip some skyshards with cash from the shop but not dungeons or quests.

That's the one big thing I'm not looking forward to with arcanist - having to collect all those skill points again. Ugh. Not to mention mount training and if I want to bother with leveling crafting.

Holycannoli, mount training is the worst.
Having 18 fully developed characters it is not hard to level up 19th and 20th, really.
Skillpoints finder addon https://www.esoui.com/downloads/info1863-UrichsSkillPointFinder.html is of a great value, but, as i said earlier: SP is quite a different topic, rather than XP/CP as SP are individual, while CP is account-wide.
