Leaderboard Rewards?

Let’s talk about the Weekly Leaderboard.

j4pcs3l7cxyq.png

This acknowledgment of performance is an amazing thing that ESO has had since Craglorn.

One problem I’m seeing with these weekly Leaderboards; is that they rarely fill up anymore. Scores that you would NEVER see make it through on a Weekly Leaderboard are getting paid out because there is no driving force for players to compete.

Is this indicative of a dying PvE scene or of a lack of meaningful rewards that provide reason for players to covet Leaderboard spots?

As far as rewards go, look at how many Transmute Stones we get, on top of untradeable weapons that are safely assumed we already have, as we have mastered the content and ran through enough to fill our stickerbooks. Not to mention a gold “Mace of the Healer?”

It’s hard to feel rewarded for putting in the most effort when that reward surmounts to the same Transmute Stones you get for a Random Dungeon; with the added bonus of a Tempering Alloy and a Rosin. I would like to see more incentive, and likewise, more competition.

Well, you see… Heavy Armor can be pretty uncomfortable, it’s good to find the right fit.

One thing I think they could do is start to give a "satchel of the X jeweler" to the leaderboard reward for a particular activity in the week.

It could be a RNG bag that has either a gold jewelry from the instance that's the target that week, a few chromium grains, a few chromium platings, or a very low and rare chance at a special costume that's decked out in jewels themed after the instance that is the leaderboard target of the week.

The first time you get the satchel you also get a new title "X arena's finest."

For example, the Maelstrom Arena could be a Daedric themed costume with a sparkly silver ghost for a pendant.

Right, honestly anything at this point.

It definitely feels like PvE isn’t something new players aspire to be great at these days.

Weekly trials could do with more transmutes for sure. It's what, 10 as of right now? Maybe an increase to around 25-30 would help out there.

To add to the rare costume idea maybe a set of style pages only gained through weekly rewards, possibly done in a similar vein to vateshran weapon styles where they are player bound and a bit more of an exclusive and unique reward.

Its the same in PVP, rewards are not worth it, I don't even open them anymore, I have an addon that deletes them as soon as I accept the mail ( I only get the gold ) its the same when the campaign ends, the items you get are also a bit lackluster

Worth it when I get two pieces of gold jewelry (happened last time vSS was the weekly.) Worst case scenario, you get a decent shot at 2 gold temper mats (wax, rosin, etc)

Also worth it for trials like vSS, vRG, vDSR, vCR, vMoL where some sets from those trials are still very heavily collected.

Yes, fewer people do weekly trials than they used to. But fewer people in general do trials than they used to. If you were in Craglorn back when Elsweyr or Summerset were current, you know what I mean.

I would like to see ZOS take a page from WoW by adding random mount / pet drops to trials. This would provide another reason for players to run old content, even when they already have it in the stickerbook. The main reason people still farm vAS+2 is the chance to get the polymorph. Adding skins, mounts, polymorphs, pets, etc. to all of the older trials would be fun and help get more people interested. Also, the concept of a "bonus loot coffer" could be used -- finishing the weekly trial could reward double coffers once per character, with things like motif pages, mats, furnishing patterns, etc. randomly included in addition to gear.

The weekly in general suffers from ESO's lack of trial content. You can only run vAA or vHRC so many times before you're just burned out on them. As the endgame community in ESO has fallen off over the last year or two, so too have the number of people willing to run these old trials, especially as it becomes more difficult to fill runs. We had to cancel our long-time weekly score push group in one of my guilds because we couldn't field a consistent 12 anymore. But it's hard for ESO to compete with games that drop 3-4 new trials or raids every expansion.

The transmute crystals reward from weekly is ok but I like Cyro's better, Tier 1 is 30 minutes or less and rewards 50 crystals.

When you get two Gold jewelry, it usually amounts to two Chromium Grains, which is absolutely nothing to a player farming Trial plunder runs.

What amazes me, is that participation trophies like the Tier-1 50 Transmutes in Cyrodiil completely outshine Leaderboard rewards at only 10. You could run a random dungeon and get the same amount, it quite literally makes no sense. Similar to how you get the same Transmutes from a Normal random compared to a Veteran one.

I agree that if more high value random drops were added to your hard mode clears it would be a form of incentive, but players would just bypass it completely by buying those runeboxes and we’re back at square one.

the most useful leaderboard rewards i think are cloudrest or asylum leaderboards

asylum you get perfected weapons from the leaderboard and you can place on the leaderboard doing +1 instead of +2, which makes them more attainable instead of locking behind the hard mode

believe a similar thing works for cloudrest

the other leaderboard rewards i usually just see as free gold mats, or to help fill out collections when it gives you weapons

i have my main house (grand topal hideaway) listed in the housing tours, it has multiple target dummies, scribing altar, and grandmaster stations (in progress being filled out), as well as almost every antiquity furnishing on display to preview them

feel free to stop by and use the facilities

My idea would make the bonus rewards (pets, mounts, skins) available for completing any vet trial, and then a bonus coffer from the last boss of the weekly trial or arena for that week. Those items would be bind on pickup and not sellable or tradeable, unlike the vAS poly which can be sold on trade guilds.

e.g. running any vet trial = chance at a pet, mount, skin/poly off last boss, low % rng
running whatever the weekly is = extra coffer from last boss with a % chance to contain a pet, mount, memento, skin, poly, etc also not sellable or tradeable.

Also, it's very hard to find plunder farm groups these days, most of my guilds won't do them at all anymore, unless it's the weekly, then maybe a few runs. I used to run vAA several times a week for that reason. But I'm not going to complain about 2 Chromium Grains, that's a lot of money for a 30 minute trial.

The logic behind the Cyro crystal reward was that there are a lot of PvP players who do not run any PvE content at all and therefore had no other way to gain crystals since the only other sources are pledges and randoms. I don't think they thought about the fact that PvE players would be joining Cyro campaigns just to get the crystals.
