The game client hard codes this path. On Windows it will be under C:\\Users\\<Username>\\Documents

On OS X it will be /Users/<<Username>>/Documents.

%HOMEPATH%\Documents is the short-cut path for Windows PCs and should point to locations when you have mapped users folder to another drive.

Thanks for the help, but it seems that is not the case here.

I have hidden files and folders turned on and i'm admin. I do not have a 'Documents' folder in C:\Users\%Username%\ by design. I redirected the Documents folder to D :/ .

I would think the installer would just (re)create the C:\users\username\documents\elder... path, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

    Edit:

Ill check when I get home.

Out of interest. Could you use a tool such as Process Monitor (http://www.sysinternals.com/) and then try to see where ESO tries to write to?

You should be able to set a "Process Name" filter to "eso.exe" and a second filter to only show entries with "UserSettings.txt".

I'll try this tonight and post my results

    same on my mac install

I changed my location of the users folder to my bigger non-ssd drive so its not a "typical" setup anymore. Tried to create the folder structure on several locations without success so far.

The folder isn't called Documents, it's called My Documents. (Documents is the library.)

@Seerah: That's just UI fluff. Behind the scenes, the folder is just called "Documents" - at least starting with Windows Vista. There's a localized alias as well though.

Hate to be anticlimactic like this, BUT when I got home I looked for the folder and it is there now. clear as day. D : \Documents\Elder Scrolls Online\...

My PC restarted to apply updates while I was at work, so that might of fixed it (I doubt it). ...OR I need to get my vision checked.

    Thanks for the help

I have this same problem on my Mac; I moved my user folder from my built-in SSD to my internal hard drive, and there is no ~/Documents/Elder Scrolls Online directory. This happened all through the beta, too, but never got a response to my posts about it.

I'm not proficient with Macs. The virtual mapping through ~/whatever is still working/untouched? If not, can you try creating a symbolic link to let the old location point at the new one?

I got my Documents directory to appear on my D drive properly and ESO creates it's directory correctly over there. When I was setting up my SSD/HDD combo I did quite a bit of setup, requiring some regedit modifications.

Here is the guide I followed when setting it up..

    http://www.overclock.net/t/664738/how-to-setup-ssd-boot-drive-with-secondary-hard-disc-optimization

Use at your own risk, and backup your information before you do anything just in case.

This! Again, for Mac users, DO NOT check the Applications folder (which is what I was doing)!! The live folder is in Documents > Elder Scrolls Online. Was getting worried for a second there that I would have to re-install the client - and nobody wants to do that haha. Thanks for the info, Seerah!

so i was having this issue as well but this is how i fixed it:

installed the twitch app, then installed an addon through it, then opened up my files and searched my whole computer for the addon by name, when a folder showed up i right clicked on it and opened file location, it turned out that my live folder for eso was actually saved to my onedrive

    the path was:
    This PC > C > Users > (username) > OneDrive > Documents > Elder Scrolls Online > Live

    hope this helps.
