After spending most of the season losing, I've found that the ranking system is back to it's same old tricks. That's right, I'm not even in the top 10 and already only gaining 4 points for a win despite risking 150 points and despite losing probably around 20 to 30 games at the start of the season. So yea, I'm certain that I don't totally understand the ranking system, but I'm also certain of something else.
I was too muted in my feedback for the game. That is an unfortunate consequence of desparately wanting to be optimistic for something that is new. It's pretty obvious at this point that TOT is a differnt game, but the same old all too familiar story. It's the story where the same feedback is stated over and over, such as that about ranking system changes and transparency, and nothing happens. This is how problems in general fester. This is how we are looking at the next year of the ESO developers problem solving. Well, maybe if the feedback that countless players had been giving all along was taken into account in stride, you know those players who know the game inside out and want it to do well, then we wouldn't be confronting such a game wide situation.
There were a couple of quality of life changes announced on the PTS such as a change to the refresh system and the visual placement of effects on Warrior Wave. In the case of the refresh card change, I don't even know if that change is good or needed, but I suppose it could make progressing through some turns faster. What about balance changes though? Let's say there aren't enough people that care about something like balance or something like the Rajhinn button being toxic (there are). Okay, what about a ranking system update and added transparency? Everyone, I mean everyone, is tired of it. I'm not going to say too much more since I don't see the designers reaching out here. Enfranchised players continue to move on. Would being the last person that cares be the same as being a loser?
