Otherwise if you really want 3 pieces, something like: willpower is always a good choice for a 3 piece Magicka set. Maybe Eagle Eye or Wrath of Imperium if you do almost exclusively ranged direct damage.
None of them is craftable, but there are no 3 piece craftable sets. You could just craft 3 pieces of a 5 piece set but no matter which craftable set you choose they would be all bad.
A cool animation? There is literally not a single 3 piece set with an cool animation. I think they even all have no animation at all.
So 3 piece craftable sets with a cool animation just dont exist!

✭✭✭If you are talking about a crafted set that requires knowledge of at least 3 traits, here's one with a visible proc:
Ashen Grip - 2 traits - The proc is you breathing fire when you do melee damage. Some mag characters use this in pvp.

These are probably the best choices for a 3 Trait set for Magic. Not much in the visuals, but great utility. Monster sets can give you a light show. So can some Zone sets which you can farm or buy in the Kiosks.Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
