The old system let you transform gear into selected style, downside it did not work with set items as their style is stored in the set. An mother sorrow robe is Argonian style because Mother sorrow is Argonian.

Oh ye'h, the manipulated market is so bad right now in ESO. I don't even interact with it anymore unless I am selling something that I know someone will want or need, and you better believe I will be selling it for a much more reasonable price.
what if you couldnt change the look of armor at outfit stations and instead always had to farm the mats to craft in the style you wanted???
you could still change the color and look at your collections to view styles but couldnt sink money into the outfit station but instead into the style material player market???
just imagine what certain style materials would cost if this were the case...
i DONT actually want this but it made me think of how basically useless most style materials are...
You're right about style materials being useless, for armor, but since they're also used heavily in home furnishings there's still a need for them. But like Danikat said, that's exactly how it worked when outfit stations were just dye stations, it was nice since everyone could have armor that wasn't red/blue or a disguise, but ESO's current outfit system is actually really nice, and I prefer the boring and flat gold sink to the need to customize each piece of gear, then have set A not match set B when I try to swap them around... The current system is really nice in that.

You're asking for the system we had before, and Zos found people tended to avoid new crafting styles because of the scarcity of mats, especially if you craft often changing sets around you're more likely to go cheap and matching. Once they opened it up to creating outfits with whatever style you like as long as you had it learned on your account, Motif sales went up.

Nobody in manipulating the market. With over 200 vendor locations it can't be done other than with new items for the first few days they drop.

I actually found it very odd that they didn't make it so you needed style materials to change the looks in the outfit stations. Still wonder why they opted for that, pretty much made the whole style material system obsolete, until they added the furniture stuff.

Style mats at least go to craft bag and have use for furniture and master writs. Daily reward mimic stones can be used for an unobtainium style mat (if there is any) so none should be super expensive. I do not see any sense in radical nerf to outfit system just to spend few more style mats.

Not really, people who do not have eso plus still have to use the style trait items.
