motif leads from treasure maps - some thoughts

i think the devs should abandon this system, or at least make it so that the leads drops for locations other than treasure maps. or, make specific treasure maps farmable within the zone they refer to, eg, deadlands treasure maps drop from deadlands treasure chests, or have a much higher chance of dropping.

i just finished my very last lead in the entire game, which was for the ancient (or ancestral) daedric gloves. i must say, when it dropped, i stopped breathing. when my lungs restarted, i felt such joy. such unnatural joy! it was a cool feeling, i'll give it that. and because of that, i'm slightly torn about suggesting that the system be abandoned.

but the thing it, it's just so tedious. i don't farm the maps, because you CAN'T farm the maps. so i buy them. in the beginning, i thought 'great, how expensive is that'. deadlands treasure maps, even now, about a year and an half after that zone's release, are still 60-80k, of which there is limited supply, after which they jump to 100k and up in price. i did find out, however, that by digging up leads promptly (rather than letting them pile up in hopes of getting new leads, which , by the way, you CANNOT do, because after you've got 5 leads, leads stop dropping), you get multiple leads and multiple motifs which can be sold for quite a high price. it's not good for a money-making venture, for sure, but it did end up paying for all the maps, with maybe a little extra to spare.

but it's this whole 1) search trader after trader for decently priced maps (i use ttc, that helped) 2) buy up enough maps to make the digging experience worthwhile (i usually bought up 16 deadlands maps for 1m) 3) start digging 4) either get a lead or don't 5) pull another map from mail, run away from area, run back, dig again 6) get a new lead or get a duplicate lead 7) get enough leads so that you have to scry 8) do this entire process of steps, from 1 to now, several times, maybe 10-15 times, or maybe 20 or 25. i can't remember how many times i did all of this, but it's too much.

so, either adjust this system according to my intro suggestion, or get rid! i would almost put money on Necrom having another one of these motif-lead rigmaroles, but hopefully i'll be pleasantly surprised

Not bothering doing treasure maps at all, I destroy all treasure maps I get. As I do not like running treasure maps, and they just take up inventory space for no reason. So I do not have any leads from them. Probably never will, unless ZOS makes a pirate event or something in which we have to dig them up.

Without add-ons finding treasure map locations is just too much trouble to go through, which makes digging them up no fun. Would be cool if treasure map locations were shown on the map after digging them up once, that would take away most of their annoyance for me. And would get me to participate in the treasure map chest digging profession some more.

PS: Destroyed like 50+ during this event(season of the dragon).
