Dragon over Vurkel Guard on Auridon.

I've seen several times lately a dragon on Vulkel Guard that scares the NPCs in the area.
Does anyone know anything about this matter?

Over Mournhold too. It's just an ad for the current event.

And Daggerfall (I assume), and other places in the base game. It was something they did a few years ago when they had the very first Elsweyr celebration, which they repeat whenever the Elsweyr celebration returns. You can't attack or interact with the dragons, but it's fun to watch the NPCs run around in a panic yelling about the dragon, and helps lend a sense of urgency to the "Dragons are escaping Elsweyr and threatening all of Tamriel" storyline.

Unless you've just murdered them all for today's daily endeavor. Happened to me at the Dres plantation outside Mournhold...

Just chase the flapper back to Elsweyr and show it who's boss (it's basically a flying advert for doing just that)

You monster! You're a deadlier threat to Tamriel than the dragons are! ;)

Yeah yeah, I know. Poor Dres. Have to buy new slaves servants laborers (that's obviously what they're called in one of the Q1 dungeons) now. But at least the payment was good. Or wait, it wasn't. Obviously 1 npc's life is worth just 1.5 seals of endeavor nowadays. They're getting cheaper and cheapter, it seems.

I would love if instead of just flying around, the Dragons became traveling World Bosses that stopped in a random city every few hours.

Well we can't let folks get those seals too quickly or they might stop buying crates in the Crown Store.

Not much fun if dragons will be similar to the ones from Elsweyr, a flying equivalent for Alik'r dolmens. Once they land they die in few seconds. Farmed by groups of roaming dedicated dragon slayers. World Bosses should be tough enough to stand against these groups for far more time. Take example of GuildWars2 World Bosses, The Shatterer is a good dragon example, wielding powerful abilities and here fighting hundreds of players for 8 minutes:

These dragons are tough enough. Quite often in the last week or so, when I help kill a dragon, I see another player killed by it. I underestimated one yesterday and got killed by it. I've also never seen one die in only a few seconds.

I have, it happens regularly at prime time in Southern Elsweyr during the event (esp. in the southern locations).

But the real problem is when there's no event going on. During those times, dragons sit around unmolested for hours in Northern Elsweyr. The event is an exception. You shouldn't balance an encounter around something that happens for a few days every year (probably).

How would that not be awesome? Even if they remained the same, it would energize cities. Right now they are safe havens in an already safe game, let’s shake it up.

Oh, I have an ambivalent stance on the whole endeavors thing because of this. I know they were basically only introduced to reduce criticism about the crates ("But the players can get the items without spending real money, too!"). And I have realized of course that the amount of seals per task is being reduced more and more since launch of the system. Still, I'm doing the easy ones if I feel like doing them. I'm not interested in most items anyway, especially not in apex mounts (I think them being all glowy and sparkly looks tacky), and for some piece of furniture or a costume every few months, the seals are sufficient.

I have no real interest in Endeavors myself. I rarely check to see which ones are available with most of my completions occurring as a result of my normal playing activities.

The best dragon flyover is the one over Elden Root. Wish I'd been able to get a screenie.

If you listen closely, you can hear the dragon calling for card sharps and collectors. He wants to tell you about a brand new card game!

    This would be so great.

For example, how great would it be for a dragon to land in the PvP duel area of Wayrest (just near the Undaunted Enclave) and just start attacking everyone and everything. That would be amazing.

Dynamic, random, rare, events that exhibit that element of surprise and encourage community engagement together are nearly always a lot of fun.
